  • 8 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. You heard the Assistant Minister talk of low voltage. We know very well that the KPLC is supposed to protect consumers by installing under-voltage and over-voltage relays on their power lines, so that the power reaching consumers can be safe. Is he aware of that fact? What is the Ministry doing in terms of asking the KPLC to make sure that they revert to the old system of protecting electricity lines? We are tired of losing our good men and women. view

  • 28 Feb 2012 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, four months ago, I sought a Ministerial Statement from the Minister for Finance in respect of the then depreciating Kenya Shilling. There was a loan that was being borrowed to cushion the falling shilling. Up to now, the Statement has not been delivered. When will this be forthcoming? view
  • 7 Sep 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I also want to add my voice to supporting this Motion. I am supporting the Motion because if you look at what is happening in the country right now, you will find that every year, whether there is drought or not, there is always power rationing, which we want to address now. As the Government continues borrowing for the generation of electricity, it should also start thinking of how to construct lines. We cannot keep on generating power, which we cannot transmit or distribute. If you look at the areas where we have geothermal power, you ... view
  • 21 Jul 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, you have heard the Minister say that the incident occurred as a result of somebody trying to cut the HT cable. In normal circumstances, if the main KPLC line trips, the standby generator is supposed to go on. In such facilities, whether the generator has enough capacity or not, we have automatic load sending facilities for the essential and the non-essential side. The non-essential side is lighting in rooms and the essential side is the runaways. Why did lines in the essential side, namely, the runaway, go off? Why does such a big facility not have a ... view
  • 10 Nov 2010 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Agriculture:- view
  • 6 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Energy:- (a) what steps the Government is taking towards exploiting the wind power as an alternative energy source, especially in such regions as Uriri Constituency which experience a lot of wind; (b) what resources the Government is putting in place to achieve success in this sector, particularly in Uriri Constituency, given the recent drought-induced power rationing crises of 2000 and 2009 coupled with escalating petroleum oil prices; and, (c) whether a feasibility study has been done in Uriri District to identify areas from where wind power generation masts will be erected and when the project will ... view
  • 6 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, while I want to thank the Assistant Minister for a detailed answer, I would like him to tell us what he is doing because he has admitted that there are some areas where we have very good wind speeds, especially in the northern region. view
