• 14 Jul 2016 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Chairman, Sir, I beg to move:- THAT Clause 5 of the Bill be amended in – (a) sub-clause (1) by inserting the words “once in” immediately after the words “at least”; (b) sub-clause (3) by inserting the words “on its website and in at least two newspapers of national circulation” immediately after the words “and publish”. The Committee proposes that sub-clause (1) of Clause 5 of the Bill be amended in order to clarify that the CS should reveal the national policy on upstream petroleum operations at least once in every five years. view

The Committee proposes to amend sub-clause (1) of Clause 6 of the Bill to align the provision of the sub-clause with the marginal note which refers to national upstream petroleum strategic plan. This amendment is to provide for a consultative process between the authority and the Competition Authority in the monitoring of the operations of the contractors in order to ensure that competition and fair practice is maintained.
