  • 13 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: I also want to take special recognition of the fact that there is a person living with disability on the board. The lady by the name Maria Lekoloto is a lady living with disability from Marsabit County. This is extremely commendable that in serious institutions and bodies, we can go an extra mile to think of persons that are usually down there to present us in such serious assignments like the NG-CDF. I am confident because of the presence of this lady who is living with disability knowing the challenges that persons living with disabilities face in terms of accessing ... view

  • 13 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, allow me to take a keen recognition of one other nominee on the board, the immediate former Member of Parliament for Nyatike, Hon. Omondi Anyanga. Hon. Omondi Anyanga served in this House in the last Parliament as a Member for Nyatike, Migori County, which is my county of birth, which I represented in this House before as County Woman Representative. From my experience, bursaries are the biggest challenge that parents face in ensuring that their children go to school. I am confident that the presence of Mr. Robert Nyarike, who is the Acting Chair, will contribute greatly. You very much know that I am one of the proponents of what we are calling ‘equity’. I come from the Kuria community, which is a minority community in this country. We have communities that have hardly been ... view

  • 12 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you again, Hon. Speaker. As you can see, the House is full because this is a Report of the Departmental Committee on Health. I am convinced that the Committee Members have listened and done research on this professional matter. Health is guaranteed in our Constitution. Chapter Four of the Constitution guarantees health to every Kenyan by stating that every Kenyan has a right to the highest The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. • 12 Mar 2019 in National Assembly: attainable standards of health in this country. When a serious Departmental Committee that deals with heath brings a Report to this House, Members should support it. What I do not understand is how that professional got a licence to practise. That is, probably, where the question should be. This is a doctor who has been practising as an ophthalmologist in this country for quite some time. When a person graduates with a Master’s Degree in Ophthalmology, it is a serious achievement. The Report of this Committee shows that the doctor has been accused of committing some irregularities in the profession. ... view
