26 Aug 2015 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. When an amendment to a clause is just a matter of grammar, semantics or clarity as the Chairman of the Committee has explained, I do not wish to debate much on this.

26 Aug 2015 in National Assembly:
Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, allow me to support because it is more of bringing in new terminologies that probably were not there. Therefore, this brings in the issue of clarification. So, I fully support.

28 Jul 2015 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. On behalf of the people of Migori County and on my own behalf, as a woman in this House, I wish to congratulate the speech by President Obama. As my colleagues have said, there is no way a sitting President of the USA can dedicate three days of his busy time to one country. As a country, it is something we feel honoured about and very pleased across the political divide.

28 Jul 2015 in National Assembly:
Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, you could see the genuineness in this man. He knew the issues of this country; they were at his finger tips. He is not somebody who does not know our country. This is a wakeup call: that even as we do things in this House and country, we should know that the world is watching. The world knows what Kenya is doing. The President of the USA talked about the issues of women so passionately. This is what we have been advocating for in this House. There is no excuse for clinging onto past cultural practices ...

28 Jul 2015 in National Assembly:
our children. Any community that does not educate their girls is a failed community. That is what we have been championing for. I have been championing for education for the girl child, and against FGM in my community. It is good that those sentiments came from the world’s most powerful President, and not just from a Member of Parliament. I want to briefly talk about the young people. The President of the USA exuded a lot of confidence in young people who have lost hope. I would say that the visit by the President of the USA was actually a ...

30 Apr 2015 in National Assembly:
Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I come from Kuria East Constituency. I am a Member for Migori County. Kuria is in Migori County. Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for the opportunity to also commend the Departmental Committee on Education, Research and Technology on this very important Report. We are speaking on the topic of teachers that is very dear to me. Teachers are the most overworked and underpaid workers in this country. They are not even respected. I spoke with some teachers from my constituency and many of them told me that teaching is not a lucrative job ...

30 Apr 2015 in National Assembly:
Teachers are also the most frustrated workers in this country. They work so hard yet they are paid very little. I urge the Government to pay the retired teachers their dues. It is a shame that from 1997, 18 years ago, they have not been paid their pension dues. Most teachers have waited for so long that some have died before getting their pensions. We need to make it very easy for retiring teachers and other workers to get their pensions. The Kshs16 billion is not a lot of money for this country. This country has enough money for everybody, ...

29 Apr 2015 in National Assembly:
Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I have been quietly sitting here. As a Member of the Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations, I want to support the amendment by hon. Duale. That is part of the issues that have been coming up in our Committee as regards matters of security. It is common practice that any country should not publicise their security issues. I highly support.

31 Mar 2015 in National Assembly:
Thank you very much, hon. Deputy Speaker for your indulgence. I also want to join my colleagues to thank the President. For the first time, the President gave a good Speech. It is a diversion from the previous Speech that he gave last year. I support the President’s efforts especially when it comes to corruption. As my colleagues have said, corruption is eating this country. When I look at the Report, the list of shame from EACC, I am not a happy person because my County, Migori, is listed here. It is not good to see the allegations of misappropriations ...
