• 14 May 2025 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I seem to have a problem with my gadget, but I had contacted the previous Speaker. I wanted to ask a question on trade budget within the counties. Counties usually budget for trade, specifically for women, youth and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) empowerment. Unfortunately, most counties have not come up with a legal framework to utilize this budget. At the end of the financial year, that budget is re-allocated to other activities when our women, youth and PwDs are suffering in those counties. Is the hon. • 14 May 2025 in Senate: two of them in my county, one called Akadeli and the other called Shambani. Those dispensaries were constructed way back in 2019 even after the ruling of the court case to pay the contractors. view

• 13 May 2025 in Senate: During the period under review, the Committee held nine sittings at which it considered various legislative proposals, Bills, Statements, Petitions and Motions. It held stakeholder engagement as set out below: Moving to legislative proposals sent via an email address to the Clerk of the Senate, the committee received two draft Bills from the public; namely, the Internal Security Devolution and County Empowerment Bill 2025 and the proposed Directorate of Criminal Investigations Authority Bill 2025. • 13 May 2025 in Senate: Concerning statements, there were 29 statements. The Committee considered and concluded seven while 22 statements are ongoing. A list of the statements is attached as Annex 3. On Petitions, the Committee is currently considering a Petition concerning compensation of police officers injured in the line of duty. That Petition was redirected from the Standing Committee on Labour and Social Welfare. The Committee met with the petitioners and relevant stakeholders to deliberate on the Petition. I remember yesterday we discussed this matter in the Senate Business Committee (SBC) and this letter did not come yesterday. What happens in the absence of these cabinet secretaries appearing in the House? There is a reason why we requested cabinet secretaries to appear on the Floor of this House. We also have other businesses to do. Mr. Speaker, Sir, you said it on the Floor of the House that this is the time for action. We want to see that action. We cannot come running here ... view
