• 8 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. The Question by the Member of Keini is addressing the situation in the whole country. The UN has estimated that almost 10 million Kenyans are affected by famine. I expected the Assistant Minister to give a more elaborate answer than say that the Ministry will take appropriate measures. What will the Assistant Minister do not only for Kieni but for other districts in the Republic which have been affected by famine as we speak today? What is “appropriate”? view
• 8 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. The Assistant Minister has persistently told the House that the Ministry will go around the country. I want to put it to the Assistant Minister that he is misleading the House because he has officers on the ground who do early warning systems. The biggest problem in managing disasters especially famine has been the failure by the Ministry at the national level to respond to the issues coming from the districts. Does he need to go around the country? By the time he finishes the entire country, people will have suffered more. view
