  • 12 Oct 2021 in Senate: Why can our chiefs, assistant chiefs and village elders not make it their business to go the sub county headquarters collect these IDs for our youths? They know them and where they reside, they can deliver them. This is what we expect from our administrators. I thank Sen. Dullo for this Statement. I hope the Committee that will be tasked to look into it, will have the interest of our youth at heart and will make it easier for all Kenyans to obtain their ID cards. I support. view
  • 7 Oct 2021 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. First, I thank these Petitioners who have brought to the attention of the Senate the problems and suffering of these poor sisters and brothers of ours who are living with autoimmune diseases. Any time Kenyans bring a Petition to the Senate, they do so because they have a lot of confidence in this view

  • 7 Oct 2021 in Senate: House. They approach us with the hope and belief that the Senate would find some solution to the problems that they are facing. Mr. Speaker Sir, as we know, health is a devolved function in our Constitution. This is a matter that is squarely within our mandate. If we were to have an honest conversation, Kenyans are suffering. Health has become a serious problem. I do not know what experiences other Senators have, but every week, we are confronted with cases of bodies detained in hospitals. Our own constituents are not able to meet the medical expenses. We are reducing ... view
  • 7 Oct 2021 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Si, this is especially in a situation like where we are, where our county governments are able to have functioning referral hospitals at our county level. You will be surprised that some of the victims are even professionals. There is a neighbour at home in West Mugirango called Dr. Bwana Nyamukoba who was taken to Top Hill Hospital in Eldoret. He stayed there for a week and now we are looking at a medical bill of Kshs1.3 million. Which Kenyan has this kind of money? We should have a cap on how much a patient can be charged. ... view

  • 7 Oct 2021 in Senate: my council. He served with me as a member of the Council of LSK. In the last two weeks, we have been battling a huge hospital bill for him. The bill that is facing his family is over Kshs16 million. Which family, with our economy, can afford to pay a hospital Kshs16 million? We must address this matter. I am just giving a case of people from my County of Nyamira. I am sure that if each Senator was to stand up, there are many people who are facing massive medical bills from our hospitals. This should not be allowed ... view
  • 6 Oct 2021 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I join my colleagues in congratulating our youngest Senator, Sen. Isaac Ngugi. The first time I saw the name, I was privileged to ask my neighbour here, Sen. (Dr.) Zani, who Sen. Ngugi is. By coincidence, Sen. (Dr.) Zani informed me that Sen. Ngugi is a person she has known for a while and that he was her student at the University of Nairobi in Social Statistics. She confided to me that as a teacher she passed a judgement that he was a young brilliant mind. That has been confirmed to me because it was ... view
  • 5 Oct 2021 in Senate: Madam Deputy Speaker, first, I would like to congratulate Sen. Nyamunga and Sen. Madzayo who have been decorated with State medals. I have no doubt that they are the most deserving. view
  • 5 Oct 2021 in Senate: I have known Sen. Madzayo for many years. I practiced before when he was serving as a judge in the Industrial Court. I have known him as an advocate of good standing within the legal profession and a very able debater in this House. I have no doubt he is very deserving. view
