Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me an opportunity to make my contribution to this Statement. I want to state to the people of Nyamira County that I took an oath to defend and protect the Constitution that was enacted by the people of Kenya in 2010. It is shocking that people who have been elected to the prestigious Houses that we call Parliament, can question the right of any Kenyan to seek a constitutional interpretation on a constitutional issue where there is a clear dispute. Article 165(3)(d)(i) of the Constitution states that:- ‘(3) Subject to clause (5), ...

fear or favour. When this matter goes to the High Court, nobody should fear because the High Court will interpret the questions that will be placed before them in line with what is stated in the Constitution. Those who have contravened this Constitution fear that the interpretation of the High Court will agree with the views that have been expressed by the Senate.

Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I rise to support this Bill. First, I would like to pass my condolences to the family of Bob Collymore who succumbed to cancer yesterday. Health is an important and key function that was devolved by the Constitution of Kenya 2010 that was enacted by the people of Kenya. Health is everything. For this country to develop, for our economy to flourish, we need a healthy generation. Most of the people who seek medical services reside in the counties. To stop the people that we represent from seeking medical services in Nairobi City, we ...

herbal therapies. I am happy that we are now obligating KEMSA to think outside the box. They should consider making supplies that have nutritional formulations to the county hospitals. From the presentations during the public hearings, I learnt that the nutritional therapies and the herbal therapies can also provide good solutions to the treatment of cancer. Some of those proposals were given by trained medical doctors who have interacted with patients and have an understanding of nutrition to cancer patients. This Bill is progressive. It is good when you can have a period within which to execute something. For example, ...

return to our senior citizens. We should be pondering on how that can be achieved in our counties, as we look at this Bill. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, in supporting this Bill, I hope that it will provide a solution, and the only solution I am thinking about is the timely distribution of medical supplies to our facilities at the county level. I hope that by this House enacting this Bill, we will be getting a solution to that problem of ensuring that we provide adequate Medicare to the people who reside in our counties. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, with ...

Madam Temporary Speaker, I congratulate my good friend who is a senior counsel, Sen. Orengo, for raising the Statement before the House. I sympathise with the people of Sudan because we have seen in the news about sad cases of women who have been raped and people killed by a repressive military regime which has been in office for the past one month or so. As a people, we ask for an urgent solution to the crisis facing our brothers and sisters in Sudan. The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. We had the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) that was extremely toothless. It is the hope and expectation of many people in Africa that the AU should have teeth to bite and bring to an end the violence being vested on civilians by the military rulers of Sudan.
