I live in Nairobi. So, they should not ask my place of origin. I was born in Mombasa, but live in Nairobi. I want to be counted in Nairobi because I have invested here and this is my city.

I strongly oppose this because I think it will cause tribalism. Kenyans can be counted wherever they live and work. Nairobi has a population of four million people from across the country. Some of them do not even know their upcountry residence. So, why do we say they live in another place yet Nairobi is their home? Some of them were born in this city and have never known their upcountry home. So, it is important that the census recognises where you live, work and invest.

I look forward to working with the steering committee to ensure we bring this particular Bill and not to start the process all over again.
