Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. As I said before, I too support the Motion. I congratulate the Committee for a job well done and for annulling the regulations. They have actually reclaimed the role of Parliament and stood with the people of Kenya. I want to say here that this is a clear message to other agencies not to attempt to bring regulations and rules that are not in line with the law. Not to repeat what has already been said, I support. Given that we are soon going on recess, I want to wish all my colleagues a ...

Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I have been here for quite a while. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak. I support the amendment to the Bill to give it teeth as opposed to what was there before. We have heard stories of many SMEs closing shop because of circumstances that we have been listening to from the other speakers, such as frustration by the buyer. We have seen the abuse of buyer power. I am not just talking about the supermarkets that have been highlighted. We have also seen institutions like the National Youth ...

Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I too stand to support the Bill and appreciate my party leader and the Minority Leader for bringing it up. We did hear yesterday that this Bill has been in the queue since the last two Parliaments. It has finally come to fruition and I want to thank my colleagues for that. We were also told that this pension is for those who served between 1984 and 2001 and payment will be in line with the regulations in force, that is, those who served for, at least, two terms and the minimum ...

from the bottom of my heart. What we are today witnessing in this Parliament was actually from that group of citizens who sacrificed their time in service for the people of this country. As was observed yesterday, the pension is supposed to cushion those who finally leave regular work in old age. Therefore, extending this to former Members of Parliament is really timely. I want to make a statement here, although we were told yesterday that we stick to the agenda or the topic of discussion. I want to say here that Members of Parliament do not live in isolation. ...

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. I, too, stand to support and say that it has come at the right time. As noted by my colleagues, it is in compliance with international standards. This country is replete with cases of misuse of data. Politicians have a lot of times been victims of misuse of this data. In this world of social media, we have seen highly classified information circulating in the media even before the recipient receives it from highly placed offices. As has been said, you have seen criminals from Kamiti sending us messages ...

Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I, too, stand to support my colleagues of the Departmental Committee on Labour and Social Welfare. As they say, a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. We are all aware that despite the benefits of international labour migration, this country, a few years ago, was replete with horror stories of modern-day slavery, contract violations, sexual abuse and unsafe working conditions. But listening to the Report as it was being presented, I am happy to state that a lot has improved over the last one year. As the Report ...

to note that the Public Service Commission, a few months ago, recruited a good number of our youth, again, as interns in various ministries and also advertised over 5,000 positions in various ministries for our young people. So, at least, we can say that there is an attempt to alleviate this problem that we have in our midst. But as has been said, can the Committee, please, move to the next step? I know that you have done a good job. You have gone there and collected facts. But let us have a structured engagement with these countries. Can the ...

Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I too stand to support the Motion from the Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs. First and foremost, I looked up at what this International Anti- Corruption Academy does. I found out that it is set up to facilitate anti-corruption education training for professionals and practitioners from all sectors. I have just learnt a few things from our good professor, which were directed to Hon. Member 001. I too had a few lessons to learn today when one act of kindness was misconstrued to mean that I have changed my profession.

The question that we need to ask ourselves is the co-operation opportunities in relation to the education programmes and activities that the Academy offers. What are the opportunities which will help our country? I read it up and picked up a few points.
