Deputy Speaker, I want to take this opportunity to first and foremost thank the Members of two committees, namely, the Departmental Committee on Education and Research and the Budget and Appropriations Committee for their dedication in this process. The 2021/2022 proposed budget for the education sector, which has six spending agencies, is currently standing at Kshs503 billion. This is going to throw the education sector in disarray despite the House having approved the appointment of the Principal Secretary. This may delay the operationalisation of this very important department, hence, derailing the smooth implementation of the new curriculum. The National Treasury should ensure that this department is provided with resources so that the rollout of the curriculum reforms is done properly.
