  • 6 May 2021 in National Assembly: It is on account of these urgent concerns that I seek a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security on the following: 1. What circumstances led to the inhuman and extremely brutal evictions of residents and demolition of houses at Ndunguni Centre? 2. What urgent intervention measures is the Government undertaking in addressing ongoing humanitarian crisis at Ndunguni Primary School exemplified by the massive congestion devoid of sanitation and water, COVID-19 masks, food and other basic needs particularly in consideration that schools are scheduled to reopen on 10th May 2021? 3. In light of ... view
  • 6 May 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, allow me to add one comment. I am a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) veteran and there are several veterans in this House. Brutalising and beating up a retired military officer, whether serving or not is against our military ethics and traditions. We cannot have a country where people who served this country with honour …. All my life I have served the country with distinction, if I may say, yet I was humiliated and beaten up like a common criminal. It is a shame and I want to say this for all to hear. I have received ... view

  • 25 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me this opportunity. Matters to do with security are grave. Security is a matter of life and death and yet, the Ministry treats such matters frivolously and almost contemptuously. view
  • 25 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: We have been sitting and asking the cabinet secretaries to appear before us and many times, they do not show up. During the last meeting, Hon. Kamket was there. The Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) came after the Committee had already dispersed. There is a lot of frustration. As we speak, more than 15 Questions are still pending. Some of them will expire next week before they are answered. In those Questions, Members are asking about human rights in the villages. As we speak, the same Ministry is planning to deploy 600 General Service Unit (GSU) officers to go and evict ... view
  • 25 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: They have not involved anybody. Instead, they talk in low tones, pretending that they are going to evict the citizens out of Tana and Athi Rivers Development Authority (TARDA) land. Nobody is in TARDA land in my constituency. They want to take over the Mwea Settlement Scheme. The citizens there are living in fear. It is about time the Ministry and the Cabinet Secretary are called upon to do their job. I hear others saying that tumeshindwa and that is why we are here. We are doing our jobs. Contempt to the Committee is contempt to this House. I submit ... view
  • 9 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. Let me add my voice to congratulate you for your recognition by the Council of Elders of Njuri-Ncheke at Njiru. Hon. Speaker, Members here might not understand that before you went to Njiru, in the shadows of Mount Kiang’ombe in Kanyuambora, the Council of Elders of Mbeere, known as Ngome, had already met and decided that their son was mature and ready to move out and face the world, and gave you their blessings. I stand here as a proud Mbeere. I am sure all the Mbeere people are proud this afternoon to see you being ... view
  • 16 Feb 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me this opportunity to add my voice to that of my colleagues to convey my condolences and those of the people of Mbeere South Constituency on the death of Hon. Member for Bonchari Constituency and Hon. Yusuf Haji. view
  • 16 Feb 2021 in National Assembly: I would like to make a remark about Yusuf Haji. I interacted with him when I served at the National Security Advisory Committee. I came to know him as man who cherished the truth. He was always seeking to know the truth. He always insisted that the truth should be spoken and if there was an issue, it be examined carefully and resolved. Therefore, I feel that this country has lost a great man. For those of us left behind, this is a good example for us to follow. view
