  • 18 May 2021 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, mine is to do with procedure and rules. As much as I agree with Sen. Cheruiyot that mattes raised by Sen. Cherargei are very important and maybe you should allow Members to canvass, there are the provisions of Standing Order No.100(1) which says: “A Senator shall be responsible for the accuracy of any facts that the Senator alleges to be true and may be required to substantiate any such facts instantly.” view
  • 18 May 2021 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, Sen. Cherargei made some allegations. He was challenged by Sen. Dullo and you asked him to substantiate. He did not. That is in contravention of Standing Order No. 100(1). view
  • 18 May 2021 in Senate: Standing Order 100(2) says that you can give him time if he is not ready to substantiate now, to do it another time. If he is unable, then he must withdraw the statement so that it does not remain in our records. It has to be expunged if he cannot substantiate. So, is he in order? view

Today, one of most crucial source of energy for industries, automobiles and other machines is petrol. It is a big component in Kenya’s economic and social life, as it is used ... view

  • 18 May 2021 in Senate: taxis and boda bodas have greatly suffered during the pandemic and are now exposed to even more suffering as a result of reduced profits. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, a comparison of pump prices of petroleum products across the region reveal that prices in Kenya are the highest in East Africa, higher than even landlocked countries. This scenario has two immediate implications. One is the economic hardship to the general public and, two, closure of industries and capital flight. This will in turn lead to slower growth of the economy. It does not make any economic sense to invest in a ... view
  • 17 May 2021 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, Sen. Faki moved that we hear the governor and he was not seconded. I want to be on record that I am seconding him. The Standing Orders are not very clear on this particular procedure. It just says that having substantiated, the Senate shall after according the governor an opportunity to be heard, vote on the charges. Some of the matters have been substantiated, and I think it is only fair that before we take a vote--- Of course, a vote will be preceded by debate if there are those who wish to make some contributions and ... view
