  • 7 Jul 2015 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Hon. Speaker. I am worried about the positions being taken by the Leader of the Majority Party. Would the Leader of the Majority Party confirm now that he denies the opportunity to meet the good gracious ladies of this House whether he has joined the club of Hon. Kang’ata, that gay one? We want to be clear on this matter. view
  • 7 Jul 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. The President and the leadership, particularly from central Kenya have done well. That is commendable. We have to support that process but we must ask the following four questions. All the business enterprises I have seen raided claim to have licences. Who licensed those businesses to trade in illicit brew? As much as we are carrying out a crackdown, that is something that we need to sort out. If it is corruption, let us deal with those licensing authorities. Secondly, as much as we are dealing with this national crisis, we must also remember ... view
  • 7 Jul 2015 in National Assembly: Lastly, as we do anything, we must remember that we could be dealing with same symptoms. When we do things off the cuff or spuriously, we discourage investors. The investment environment must be predictable. We make it very unpredictable when a person is duly licensed and without dealing with whoever licensed him, you destroy his machinery. People want to know that when they take a licence and it is a lawful trade, they will engage in trade. Once we jolt the investment environment because of failure to abide by the rule of law, we risk the jobs which we should ... view
  • 7 Jul 2015 in National Assembly: As much as I encourage what has happened, let me also urge those people whose property were destroyed by gangs in the process of this good mission to take up cases against those who did it whether it is a Member of Parliament or a gang from the village. We can also hide under good things to do very bad things. I would like to tell the President that going into the future, leadership merely proffers solution and creates impetus. May the systems that are in place to deal with this problem now take charge and deal with it as ... view

  • 1 Jul 2015 in National Assembly: It is Madam Speaker, I stand corrected by my colleagues. How I apologise to the Chair. I did not do it intentionally; it was inadvertent. Hon. Deputy Speaker, under the watch of this particular nominee, the salary of various persons serving in our State Offices have never been harmonised. We may take it for granted but it is a very serious issue. If you go to the profession I belong to, lawyers serving the nation in the Office of the Attorney-General (AG), those serving as magistrates, those lawyers serving in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and ... view

  • 1 Jul 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, I take it that that was a point of argument. What we are saying is that this lady has been in this institution at a senior position of influence within the SRC and things are happening there that, even if we were to approve her by majority as it will happen and may happen, she must look at them when she settles, if she will settle. Something which we are taking for granted as Members of Parliament has happened. Do you know that under the watch of this great lady the salary earned by commissioners at SRC ... view
