  • 7 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, that is correct. That is why we have those levy funds. The funds are given to the factories to make sure that all the roads are motorable and in good condition. If it is true that the roads in Mumias are not in good condition, I will follow that up with the Kenya Sugar Board to find out why they are not in good condition. view
  • 7 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, that is a very good idea. However, at the moment, according to the Kenya Sugar Board Act, the funds supposed to be channelled through the factories to tarmac the roads within their areas. view
  • 7 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, we have percentages of what is given to each factory. For example, factory development and rehabilitation gets 17 per cent from Kenya Sugar Board. Research and Extension services gets 23 per cent. I think that is what the hon. Member is talking about. He is asking about the development of the sugar-cane industry in this country. The emphasis of Kenya Sugar Board is on research and extension services. view
  • 7 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, when hon. Wamalwa said that the roads are not in good shape, I promised to go back and talk to the Kenya Sugar Board and make sure that we get proper accounting on what has been done, how much money has been used and why the roads are impassable. view
  • 23 Jun 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am sorry that the hon. Member does not have a written answer. Copies of the written answer were distributed last week but the hon. Member was not present. I even did not get time to answer the Question. view
  • 23 Jun 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to reply. (a) I am aware that the Chief Executive Officer and other officers of the Agricultural Society of Kenya have been accused of corruption and embezzlement of funds by the Board of Trustees. (b) The Ministry appointed a task force to look into the allegations, whose findings are expected tomorrow. Depending on the task force’s findings, appropriate action will be taken. Thank you. view
  • 23 Jun 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am ready to give a copy of the report to the hon. Member immediately I get it. Thereafter, if he has any other question, he can put it to the House. Thank you. view
  • 17 Jun 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to reply. view
  • 17 Jun 2010 in National Assembly: Question (a) and (b) have been overtaken by publication of the Gazette Notice No.6208 of 31st May, 2010, lifting the ban on exportation of raw nuts. view
  • 15 Apr 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to reply. (a) I am aware that some NCPB depots in Western Province and Trans Nzoia District have limited stocks of Government subsidized fertilizer remaining. view
