  • 2 Oct 2018 in National Assembly: Currently, the pharmaceutical technologists are about 10,000, but less than 1,000 are employed formally in the system. So, there is a big challenge. We have many hospitals around and less than 1,000 pharmaceutical technologists are employed. This is something that both the national and county governments need to look at with a view to increasing their numbers in the hospitals. Nurses in this country are multi-tasking. They are working as nurses, clinical officers and they also dispense drugs. So, it is the right time to ensure that this is in our laws, so that pharmaceutical technologists and pharmacists can do ... view
  • 2 Oct 2018 in National Assembly: In Cap 244, the board consisted of nine members. Unfortunately, for a very long time, it consisted of one cadre which is degree holders and only one member from the diploma holders’ cadre. For a very long time, it has not been fair for one cadre to be represented by one person among the nine. I support this Bill and request my fellow Members to look at it critically because we are all affected by it. We need to contribute to it so that we can come out with a Bill that defeats the bad practice in the health sector ... view
  • 29 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I also want to support this amendment because raising tax on fuel is a button to raise the prices of everything. When you increase tax on fuel, it is not the right thing for Kenyans now because it will hike everything in life. As we speak, Kenya Power Company is charging us a lot. When you increase the tax on fuel, we will pay more than what it is now. view
  • 29 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, I need your protection. view
  • 29 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: We do not need hiking of this tax now. I seriously propose that the amendment by Hon. Junet goes through. Postpone it even forever. view
  • 11 Apr 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. I want to add my voice on the issue of cancer. I am so passionate about this Motion because last weekend I buried two people who succumbed to cancer. While doing so, we had four bodies lying at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH), Eldoret. This Motion has come at the right time. Cancer is an expensive disease to manage. There is no known cure for cancer. Every now and then, cancer patients are taken to hospital where radiation is done. view
  • 22 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I also stand as a Committee member to declare to this House that I am one of the people who came up with the Report. Members should actually stop looking at the Report as one that targets anyone. Ours is a Report based on the investigation we did. We had sleepless nights just to ensure that we beat time and bring this Report here. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. Acertified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 22 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Normally, I like being very independent in my mind. I urge Members that when we are dealing with matters health, we should not go the political way. This is because when it comes to matters health, today it is another person and tomorrow it is you. If it is not you directly, it could be you through another person. So, we should not politicise it so that we can actually have a better facility that can serve this country. I have looked at those issues in three dimensions. What I saw as a problem is the workload. The members of ... view
  • 22 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Referral Hospital. That is a facility which people are not talking about and yet, it is also a time bomb. We need to see what happens there because there could be similar issues to those in KNH, so that we do not have to start other investigations. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I want to finish my contribution. We have been told that surgery mix-up is not unique to KNH. It has happened elsewhere. If this particular case had not leaked to the media, would it have been easy for anyone to notice? We do not know how many other such ... view
  • 22 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: With those few remarks, I support this Report, noting that it intends to change the way things are being done at KNH, and other medical facilities serving Kenyans. view
