  • 12 Nov 2015 in National Assembly: are. To them, they are just materials to make charcoal but to an old person who benefited from this traditional medicine, they are valuable trees. So, I support this Bill fully and if it is implemented, we should patent our medicinal plants. We also need to identify and protect them so that even the medicine men that are still alive feel protected and can come out and demonstrate their skills. We should look at traditional dances. Very many of our traditional dancers are just used during national holidays and yet these talented dancers should be organised so that they can ... view
  • 14 Oct 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I stand to oppose the issue of a code of conduct. It is important and it will improve the standards that we aspire to have as Members of Parliament. However, by the time you are coming to the House, you have been vetted by so many other bodies that are in the law. view

  • 14 Oct 2015 in National Assembly: I was saying that by the time we come to Parliament, we are vetted by other bodies that the law provides. However, improving the code of conduct and the way we operate here will help us to weed out some people who may spoil for us in the House. For instance, the petition we have heard may come to the House challenging the issue of mileage, yet we know that for a very long time, mileage has been paid to Members of Parliament. In that respect, if we had a code of conduct, it would weed out irresponsible Members. view
  • 26 Aug 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I also rise to support the Bill. Hon. Members occupy a special position in the society. As my colleague Peris has said, we should be wary of not abusing the same. view

  • 10 Jun 2015 in National Assembly: It is, indeed, one point, Hon. Speaker. It is a great moment for the litigants who have been in court for very many years and the courts have already decided on this matter. They have been awarded. I request the Government to pay this money as a matter of urgency because even blessings come from God when you pay somebody his dues. view
  • 30 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I do not support the amendment because we are aspiring for positions all the time. We should not attempt to block opportunities for ourselves, either now or in the future. With those remarks, I beg to oppose. view
  • 14 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I want to say that I am a member of the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security in Parliament. The problem of insecurity in our country is becoming enormous. As a nation, we need to debate this issue. If there is anything that is creating a headache then it is insecurity in our country especially in our county of Baringo where we are experiencing a lot of internal conflicts. While the one of Al Shabaab is external, this other one is internal. So, we are experiencing both internal and external insecurity problems. We ... view
