  • 25 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister for Tourism the following Question 3516 by Private Notice. (b) Could the Minister provide an alternative place for the beach operators to conduct their businesses, considering that the beaches have been their place of work since time immemorial? (c) What plans does the Minister have to ensure that the beach operators do not lose their source of employment? view

  • 13 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, is the Minister aware that most of these people who were dismissed, from the Coast Province have actually not been paid their dues? If, indeed, they have been paid, could he lay the evidence on the Table? I am aware that Ms. Naomi Sidi, who was dismissed, has not been paid her dues for the last four years. view

  • 15 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: asked the Minister of State for Provincial Administration and Internal Security what steps he has taken to deploy a District Officer (DO) and other divisional administrative personnel following the creation of Bamburi Division. view
  • 15 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I do not know if the Assistant Minister is aware that the DO has been posted there as an individual, with no logistical support from the Ministry. That he is supposed to co-ordinate, as the Assistant Minister, to ensure that the services of a DO are availed to the locals. view
  • 15 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister has not come out decisively, because we have a serious insecurity problem within that area--- Having a DO with no vehicle or support officers or armoury for Administration Police (AP) posted there does not serve the purpose. Because of the magnitude of the issue, the Assistant Minister ought to come out clear on when exactly we are going to have officers, the APs, and other support officers deployed and vehicles to serve the purpose of having Bamburi Division. view
  • 15 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, he did not give a decisive answer. What is the timeframe? view
  • 6 Aug 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Minister has come out clearly to say that the Ministry has no means of checking illegal fishing in the Indian Ocean. So, for the interest of Kenyans, under what knowledge has he come to this House to say that there are no trawlers fishing out there at this time? We are, certainly, aware that they are illegal. Secondly, what measures does the Minister intend to put in place to stop this illegality? view
  • 6 Aug 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I do not think the Assistant Minister realises the magnitude of human/wildlife conflict. It is not only in Nyakach but the whole country. The fact of the matter is that wildlife has to be managed and it is the responsibility of the Ministry. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, if the Ministry cannot do so, could they allow wananchi to handle the situation and not be charged because they are suffering since their crops are being destroyed and lives are being lost? view
  • 5 Aug 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, given the fact that the Committee actually used taxpayers money, for us to sit here and wait for a Report indefinitely--- Could the Minister tell us specifically when the Report will be tabled because it is very fundamental to the Muslim August 5, 2008 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 2315 community in this country? view
