  • 19 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me the opportunity. I stand to support the Motion. The amendment proposed is going to be very beneficial to Kenyans. First of all, I want to talk about the fishing nets. The fishing nets are really helping wananchi because nowadays many Kenyans eat fish. Red meat is not good for our health. So, by reducing or removing VAT on fishing nets, it will benefit our fish farmers. Secondly, I want to appreciate the proposal to remove VAT on mosquito nets. Where I come from, Kericho; we used to have fatal cases of ... view
  • 19 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: If VAT is removed, we shall have many farmers breeding more animals. You know at present, there are no jobs for our youths, but we have to create jobs in the rural areas by encouraging the youth to keep animals because VAT on animal feed prices will come down. We shall find that our youths will have their own jobs in the rural areas. Even the keeping of poultry, many mothers kept poultry, but these days they have left it because of expensive feeds. By passing this Bill on the removal of VAT on animal feeds, we shall appreciate it ... view
  • 19 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: The other thing is about the creation of jobs. We would like to create more jobs for our youths by removing VAT from most of the items; they use, for example, in carpentry and masonry. We would like many of our youths to join that sector, especially those who have left Form Four. If VAT is removed from this sector, our youths will go to those fields and specialize in making some items. view
  • 13 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, hon. Deputy Speaker. I would like to know from the Chair what the Government is doing to the people who are raping school-going children. These people are raping children who are underage or below 18 years. What will the Government do to help those children, if they are barred from going back to school? view
  • 13 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: No, hon. Deputy Speaker. We are talking about school children and that is why I have asked a question about them. I want to know the disciplinary action that should be taken by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology or the Government. What should we do especially when it comes to children? I think hon. Ndung’u had brought a Bill to Parliament to the effect that men who are doing that should be castrated. view
  • 13 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Anyone will fear raping anybody in this country if that is done. We plead to men to support us to bring such legislation. view
  • 13 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, if there is a way the ladies can also be castrated, they can do it. However, this issue is serious. This is because the victims are being infected with HIV/AIDs and we should not take this matter lightly. view
  • 23 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I would like to support the Motion. Dams are very useful in our areas. In my area, Kipkelion in Kericho, the land is very fertile yet you find that they only plant crops when there are rains. If water is harvested there, we will plant a lot of food in that area, for example, tomatoes and cabbages. By creating dams in that area, we will ensure that people in that area get water throughout the year. They should not only depend on rain water. So, if we construct dams in that area, we ... view
  • 23 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Women walk long distances, for example, ten kilometres in search of water. By building dams in these areas, we will be able to do green houses for growing flowers, tomatoes and different types of fruits and vegetables. view
  • 23 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: We can even export some of them. We will have employment opportunities for our youths if we can have dammed water which will be used for irrigation. So, I support this Motion very much and I want to say that in other areas of the country, we need to build dams. You find that the water in Egypt and other countries of Africa comes from Kenya and we wonder why we are not able to practise irrigation. Is it because the Government does not want to implement water policies? We want to know that. We have these resources and nobody ... view
