  • 26 Jun 2014 in National Assembly: I want to talk about the Global Fund in this country. The Fund gives money for the purchase and distribution of mosquito nets. Hundred per cent of this money is sent to this country. International companies come into this country, register and leave with the money. view
  • 26 Jun 2014 in National Assembly: I would like the Departmental Committee on Health to visit A to Z Company in Arusha which employs 10,000 workers. This company was opened by President Bush. These mosquito nets have got some restriction. At least, 10,000 jobs will be created if we implement this policy that mosquito nets should be manufactured locally. view

  • 30 Apr 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Although hon. Simba says he was called before me, I think you have taken care of the minority in this House. I would like to congratulate hon. (Dr.) Chris Wamalwa and bring to the attention of this House that even in the counties, in our dumping grounds, if this board comes in, it will generate fertilizer. I agree with my fellow colleagues that organic fertilizer is a separate issue from chemical fertilizer and the fertilizers from the dump yards. We have seen some countries in Asia and Europe manufacturing fertilizers from dump yards. Even, ... view
  • 26 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, hon. Deputy Speaker. Of course, it is water for wananchi . The population of Nairobi has grown and I hope the Chair, hon. Amina, is listening. We have a big population in Eastlands and Dandora. Could this money be used to buy storage tanks? The population in Mombasa is growing and there is lack of water. Could we consider buying storage tanks, so that water is stored and supplied to the local residents? Could we consider using the money to provide storage tanks in big cities? The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for ... view

  • 19 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. First of all, I would like to say that the Chairman of the Budget and Appropriations Committee has been meeting the whole country and we have been with him. Let me tell you that being the Chairman of the Budget and Appropriations Committee is not a joke. We in CORD have been criticizing, but he is really a man who deals with the whole Budget. Thank you, Chairman. I know what you are going through. He has sacrificed his time in all these meetings. I would like to say that this time ... view
  • 19 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, even if a deputy chairman is there, a budget is a budget. We talked with Prof. Nyikal and everybody. Mbadi is in the team. Chairman, you did a good job. view
  • 19 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: What I would like to add to next year’s Budget is infrastructure. Kenya does not have money. We were with him in Nanyuki with the President. If possible, we would like to bring the infrastructure on the Built, Operate and Transfer (BOT) system. That is built on lease and transferred. There is a metal rail project which I have agreed with the Chairman we will go to the President to discuss with him. Investors will come here and take it on a guarantee for 15 or 20 years. They will build a metal rail on one pillar in Nairobi. That ... view
