  • 21 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: We have also seen the KWS and the Government go to every possible pain to refuse or discredit people who claim to have been injured or killed by wild animals. One case in study is when someone was attacked by an elephants and the KWS brought a story to court that, that gentleman from Nyandarua was trying to milk an elephant. We know and we are aware that no human being can attempt to milk an elephant and the gentleman was not paid. Therefore, this Bill attempts to bring everyone on board. With those reasons I beg to support the ... view
  • 30 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I rise to support this Motion by hon. Abdullahi Mohamed Diriye. Having worked as a publisher and in the schools during the time when the free primary education started in this country, honestly, I thank the Government of the former President that started this. For the first time in Kenya, pupils got an opportunity to go to school as a result of which we saw the likes of the late Kimani Maruge, may God rest his soul in eternal peace, having a chance to go to schools and many others in this country. ... view

  • 30 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: have even opened personal briefcase bookshops to supply these books. Finally, as a result of the high commissions they are asking from booksellers, we end up getting very few books getting to schools and we even have instances where books are supplied and they are later taken away, we do not know how but the books of accounts of the schools indicate the books have come. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, so, therefore, I would also urge hon. Diriye probably to try and look at the procurement strategy as he makes this a Bill of the Government. This is because in ... view

  • 2 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Coming from Molo Constituency, which is the epicentre of dairy farming; and having seen the tribulations of my people in producing milk in small-scale and in large-scale, I would like to support the Motion by hon. James Kimaru Bett, as amended by hon. Wanjiku Muhia. I would also like to propose to hon. Wanjiku Muhia that we should have put the farm gate price at 50 per cent of the retail price, and not at Kshs45. I say so because, The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified ... view
  • 2 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: currently, milk retails in shops at Kshs90 to Kshs110 per litre. Therefore, a farm gate price of Kshs45 per litre is lower for some brands of milk, unlike for Molo Milk, Brookside Dairy and for other brands. So, probably, we should have said that the price of raw milk should not be less than 50 per cent of the price of processed milk on the shelves of retailer outlets. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I know that almost all of us in this House have reared a dairy cow at some time. I have also been through the tribulations related to ... view
  • 1 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker, I also have a concern. I requested for a Statement from hon. Kamama, the Chairman of the Committee on Administration and National Security - I urge him to listen - about the sector of motorcycles; I sought to know exactly what the Government is doing to organize the motorcycle sector. As at that time and up to now, cartels are targeting motorcycle riders and killing them. A new twist has come up again where motorcycle riders are now turning assassins. I still do not have the answer to the Statement. I do not know whether ... view
  • 25 Sep 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker, Sir. I have heard hon. John Mbadi talking about being a Member of ICPAK. I do not think he is in order to mislead this House that these amendments will not have any negative effect on the capital markets. I think he should be declared out of order. view
