  • 27 Sep 2023 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for allowing me to also air my views in addition to those of my colleagues. I support the Bill because it will enhance primary healthcare in rural areas. When I talk about rural set up, I am talking about places that have been left behind and never really had an opportunity to receive services such as primary healthcare. My colleagues have expressed concern on the bureaucracy from the national Government, which become a bottleneck to devolving these services to communities. For example, Turkana County where we are, West Pokot which I represent, Isiolo and many ... view
  • 27 Sep 2023 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I really support it. We should make sure that the devolved setting of healthcare is practically realised by rural areas that have not been receiving such services. The good thing is that the marginalised areas that have lagged behind will probably realise employment that has never been realised before. When their children begin to be Community Health Workers (CHWs), the community will also engage because it will be practically at the door step of every village and so on. Then, view

  • 27 Sep 2023 in National Assembly: this will ensure that medicine is also made available in the health facilities as it is practically put into every dispensary and health facility that is in the village. On the management, even though there is the technicality of who elects who to be in charge of those facilities, the fact is that if the medical personnel are there and also the medicine, this will enhance a lot of care among the people in the villages. It will also reach out and cater for maternal care that will care for the mother and the child which in some cases is ... view

  • 22 Sep 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise to ask Question No.203/2020 to the Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development: (i) When will the Ministry compensate persons affected by the expansion and rehabilitation of a 12-kilometre section of the Iten-Burgar Road to bitumen standards that was undertaken in December 2016? (ii) What has caused the delay in the payment of compensation despite the payments expected to have been completed by end of June 2019? Thank you. view
  • 8 Sep 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me an opportunity to add my voice to this Bill. I would also like to congratulate my colleague, Hon. Mishra, for bringing this Bill, which is actually long overdue. This Bill will definitely help this country both in local and external referrals. Previously, when some of us were young doctors, there was a system which regulated local referrals. However, that system seems to have disappeared somewhere. That is why you find hospitals like Kenyatta National Hospital, Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) and the upcoming hospital at Kenyatta University getting overwhelmed by ... view
  • 8 Sep 2020 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker as a doctor, when a lady needs a caesarean section operation, and we have medical officers in Level 4 hospitals, when you find such a patient being referred to MTRH or KNH, then it means there is a problem somewhere. That is because a medical officer is capable of doing a caesarean section operation. On the external referrals, it is very important… view
  • 1 Aug 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I would like to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Culture and Heritage the following Question: (i) What is the status of the Construction of Kamariny Stadium in Keiyo North Constituency which was started in 2014? (ii) Could the Cabinet Secretary provide details on the cause of delays in completion of the stadium that was initially scheduled to be completed in 2018, and when it will be completed? view
  • 27 Jun 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me this chance to ask Question No.304/2019 to the Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development. (i) Is the Cabinet Secretary aware that construction of Iten-Nyaru Road that commenced in 2017 and was scheduled to be undertaken within 30 months is yet to be completed? (ii) Could he provide reasons that are occasioning the slow construction pace of the road and further specify the timelines within which the construction shall be completed? Thank you, Hon. Speaker. view
