16 Jun 2016 in Senate:
Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, thank you. You will remember that the Chief Justice was the presiding Judge during the very dark ruling of the Presidential Petition. About 5.2 million Kenyans will remember this with great sadness that this very Chief Justice did not give an opportunity to the court to interrogate the affidavit that was presented. Although we are advocates of constitutionalism, it behooves us that where there are matters to deal with public interest and policy, the court should view them and not decide on mere whims by saying that you are barred by time. This is a great ...

16 Jun 2016 in Senate:
Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I rise to second the Motion. This is a fairly straight forward Motion as Sen. (Dr.) Zani has moved it. It is fair that the distinguished Senators get a reprieve of one week to take stock of what we have done. We have worked very hard for the last four or five weeks. Therefore, it is good to take a break. They say that all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. We also need an The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only. 15 Jun 2016 in Senate:
Thank you Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I also rise to condemn very strongly what has happened in the last two days here in Kenya. We have witnessed excessive force and police brutality being meted on Hon. Members of Parliament. Sen. Muthama has been subjected to excessive erosion of his fundamental rights. The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor, Senate

2 Jun 2016 in Senate:
Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. With your permission, let me also ride on that point of order at the risk of sounding like an old record. If I borrow words from Sen. Mutula Kilonzo Jnr., we have been in this House for over three-and-a-half years---

2 Jun 2016 in Senate:
Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for that information. I stand guided. We have been in this House for over three-and- a-half years and have not legislated any Bill into an Act of Parliament except five of them. This is not because we have not been working. We have worked very diligently but over 18 of our Bills are lying somewhere in the National Assembly. Is it in order to fast track the work of the National Assembly? Are we here as errand boys and girls to fast track the work of the National Assembly when we know that they are ...

31 May 2016 in Senate:
On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I further want to also support what Sen. Mutula Kilonzo Jnr is saying. We do not see why we should continue receiving Communication on new Bills from the National Assembly when we have over 18 Bills that we have given them. They have refused to respond on them and nothing has been done. As we seek this ruling from you, I think time has come when we call a spade a spade and the Swahili say kama ni kubaya ni kubaya . The time has come for this Senate to also ...

29 Mar 2016 in Senate:
Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to support this Motion. I join my colleagues in congratulating Sen. Kivuti and the Co- Chairperson, Hon. Amina Abdalla for doing an excellent job in coming up with an agreed document through mediation. Mr. Speaker, Sir, we thank you for the efforts you have done in ensuring that we finally get this Bill mediated and our suggestions, as Senators, have actually been taken into account. I am glad to note that in this report, the communities where the exploration of minerals will be done will be beneficiaries. There is no ...

24 Feb 2016 in Senate:
Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, under what authority did KTDA invest that money in Imperial Bank? Do they have an agreement or a memorandum of understanding? On whose authority are they investing such an amount of money? Who will pay the accrued interest of Kshs2.9 billion that Imperial Bank is under receivership?
