On 6th March 2016, the Authority issued an improvement order to the facility advising them to secure their feeder sewer to avoid vandalism, rehabilitate site affected by the discharge from vandalism activity and submit effluent analysis report for the pre-treated waste water. On 5th March 2018, LDK Ltd submitted their supplementary preliminary stack emissions measurement report awaiting the final one in 21 days. On 19th March 2018, the Authority received an invitation from Parliamentary Committee on Environment and Natural Resources to provide a brief on the LDK. However, a letter dated 14th January 2015 indicated the polluting nature of the company. The introductory paragraph of the letter states: “… after rigorous analytical and quality assessment of your pre-treated effluent, it is a fact that you are unable to achieve the values of COD and BOD set at 1000 mg/l and 500 mg/l respectively as stipulated in the Environmental Management and Coordination (Water Quality) Regulations, 2006 of Legal Notice No.120”.
