  • 3 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the agricultural land sub-division is controlled by the land control board established under the Land Control Act. The nomination of board members is guided by Section 5(2) of the Act and participation of the Ministry of Agriculture in the board is not guaranteed. The section only refers to public officers without specifying the department in which they are supposed to come from. It is the responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture, through the Land Control Board, to protect agricultural land from people who want to make profit out of it. view

But later on, we were informed that the matter is in court. It is a question of arbitration. When MOCO and Mumias Sugar Company (MSC) were in the process of arbitration, the latter went to court and received some court orders restraining the process to go on. view
