  • 19 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: anything into this country, by inference, we are shipping our jobs abroad. At a time when most of our youths and the productive lot of our society are reeling under joblessness, this country must quickly do something to that effect. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the rest of the Arab world are in dire need of beef, but this country cannot provide beef to cushion that market. Therefore, I hope that my good friend, Hon. Tiren, will move swiftly. view
  • 14 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. Mine is unrelated to the matter at hand. view
  • 14 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Yes, Hon. Speaker. I seek your indulgence, because I ought to have made it formally, but due to the dictates of time, I could not. view
  • 14 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Kindly, indulge me, Hon. Speaker. view
  • 14 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: I thank you once again. Hon. Speaker, this relates to the offices that are facilitating us in the constituencies, together with those from the Senate. There has been a directive by KRA lately that in case of delay to remit taxes due from our offices, which is usually occasioned by delays by the National Treasury to remit money to the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC), there is a penalty to be paid. The KRA is a department within the National Treasury and, therefore, we do not understand why they go ahead to proffer very heavy penalties to our officers. I am ... view

  • 13 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Speaker. I think longevity in this House creates a semblance of order. I really relish Hon. Jimmy Angwenyi, Hon. Adan Keynan and Hon. (Dr.) Naomi Shaban. They are people who have been in this House for long, but they treat new comers with a lot of respect and not the disdain that my friend, Hon. Ichung’wah, continues to exhibit on us. However, I remember that you gave a ruling here last year when we brought our friend, Hon. David Ochieng’ on the chopping board, and we were going for his blood because we thought he ... view
  • 13 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: political parties to their Members from one committee to another, I do not think there is any need for us to be on top of our voices. Otherwise, we are going to belittle certain committees to the detriment of their performance. I believe we are fine, equal and all committees serve the interest of the Kenyan people. Hon. Speaker, for those of us who are aligned to parties, we serve in committees at the pleasure of those political parties. Therefore, they have the latitude to change Members as and when they wish to do so. Unless someone does not want ... view
  • 5 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Speaker. As you have said, this is a worthy request by the Chair of the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning. This is a matter that has taken big space in the media. This House has been hit so hard by the Press and certain Members of the Cabinet, who came out to say that they did not cause this problem but rather the problem emanated from Parliament because it is this House that passed those punitive tax regimes. This matter needs to be put to rest as soon as possible because a few ... view
