  • 16 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: where you come from in Ukambani, they tend to respect the election of ladies and women. Look at western for instance… Let me just state this because it will benefit this House. view
  • 16 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: In Western Kenya for instance, if I look at the entire Bungoma since its inception in 1963 and even before in Kakamega, Vihiga and its environs…That is why I congratulate the people of Rift Valley. They have never elected a female representative to this House. We thank Busia that gave us a few ladies like Julia Ojiambo. As we mitigate that area, it would be very important that we see how this financing will go against the cultures and beliefs of people. I do not mean that there are certain people who do not believe. It is a cultural practice, ... view
  • 9 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I think the Statement Hon Barasa seeks is for public good given that accidents have increased. The fact that there was a promissory note on the deadline on when the Statement would be given is sufficient enough to give some orders to that particular Chair. Even if Hon. Barasa is a Member of that Committee, I do not think it is good or proper for the Whip to say that Hon. Barasa should use the internal mechanism to have his Question answered. I want to believe Hon. Barasa asked the Question for the public good ... view

  • 8 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I want to thank Hon. Millie for contributing. However, is she in order to refer to the hon. Members of this august House, elected Members representing big constituencies like mine that they are jokers who are not serious and referring to them courtesy of an example she saw somewhere recently which has nothing to do with this particular Report? Is she in order and can she come out clearly to explain? view

  • 3 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. Whereas I agree in totality with the cry that we have heard about chairmen and their vices in terms of attendance in the House, then we moved to attendance in committees, I would also wish that as we discuss this, we have a broader thinking about the chairmen whom you have addressed greatly that they need to be here, but are also Members of constituencies and they have to do work here and there. We could expand the Standing Orders so that the delegation that you have talked about several times ... view
  • 3 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Lastly, on the sentiments that have been given by the Leader of the Majority Party, if we continue like that - although they elicited a lot of excitement from Members and I am sure I am one of the Members who are not doing badly in terms of attendance - the kind of list he wants to table must have some scrutiny because you heard Hon. Chepkut accusing him of not preaching peace, harmony and other good things. If you allow him to just table a list, it will have an effect on hon. Members in this House. Therefore, I ... view
  • 3 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you. view
  • 3 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. At the outset, this is a very good Motion to establish a national anti-corruption school. However, as we do so, we are actually relating it to what exists as international anti-corruption academy. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only.
