  • 11 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, just to end, I would like to say that the reason we are ranking these schools is for motivational reasons and purposes. We want to have a healthy competition, up the performance of the schools, and benchmark between schools. We want to use the performance and ranking to improve our schools. Resources in this country are very scarce. The Government has not seriously put resources in various schools. When you realize that a school is under-performing, it is us who will ensure that the school comes to the same level as other schools. Ranking will also ... view
  • 11 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: With regard to rewarding, it is always important to reward one for the good work one has done. The schools we have in this country have been doing well. There are teachers who are doing their work well. There are principals who have been working day and night to ensure that their schools perform well. We cannot intimidate these principals. We cannot call them names and say that these principals are forcing students to cheat in exams. We cannot say that because of competition students are committing suicide. Members of the public commit suicide and it is not because of ... view
  • 10 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I am sympathetic with hon. Mwaura and the people with disabilities but we are in a catch 22 situation. I think the process will take over. If we want to approve the nomination of Dr. Kabue based on the fact that even in the composition of that Commission, we do not have a single person with disability; if we were to allow the nomination, somebody will also challenge it on matters of procedure that he was not among the people who were nominated. If today we decline to approve him, the Commission will still be challenged because there ... view
  • 4 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. I also wish to express my worry in the way the Committees of this House and especially on matters that deal with corruption operate. As my colleague has said; I would have also wished there was a way where we can re-look at all the Chairs across the board and not only PAC. If you look at how people look at us, you would imagine it is the whole of this House. There are some particular Chairs who must be investigated because there are so many things that we know as Committee Members. As time goes ... view
  • 4 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: It is really funny when a Member of this House does not even know where Emurua Dikirr is or what Emurua Dikirr is. That is because it is very famous and one of the greatest constituencies in this Republic. view
  • 4 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: She is asking where Emurua Dikirr is located. It is in the southern part of Rift Valley, Narok County. view
  • 4 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: I wish to reluctantly support the sentiments. We must understand that the Members who are mentioned in this particular Motion are not just private Members. I will only support the Motion because of one private person who died in unclear circumstances; the son of the former Prime Minister. He is also included here. As for Sen. Mutula Kilonzo and Sen. Kajwang’, those were public figures, great men who were serving this Republic and held elective positions. They were no longer considered private citizens but public properties. Therefore, I would like to say that we have had several deaths of that ... view
  • 25 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, protect me from hon. A.B. Duale. The reason I am agitated is because, as I speak, the agricultural sector, which is the backbone of our economy, is dying. When we talk about maize, wheat, sugar industry, miraa and livestock sectors, they are all dead. Our livestock keepers have nowhere to sell their animals. So, it is dead. The reason why most farmers from Meru and other parts of this country resorted to farming sorghum was majorly because there has been a serious problem with the agricultural sector. That crop is resistant to diseases and drought. It is very ... view
  • 25 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I wish to support the Petition. I urge the relevant Committee to seriously look into this matter so that we can save our farmers. view
  • 25 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, very much hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity. view
