  • 5 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: We have had many scandals in this country. We had the Triton oil scandal which has gone without notice. We also had the Goldenberg scandal which has been in and out of court and many other scandals. Even this one has been in and out of court. When we seized this matter, we knew that it had been dispensed with by the court. However, if you look at the proceedings of the courts or the arbitration, you will see that it was skewed. If you look at the ruling of the court, you will also see that it was skewed. ... view
  • 5 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: We are doing our work and we want to remind the Government through the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) that this matter should be investigated thoroughly so that we know how these issues came up. view
  • 5 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, Sir, it is Kenyans who owned Erad. These are people of moral standing and people who know that the NCPB is an investment of poor people in the villages. However, they still want to demand millions of shillings from the NCPB without supplying a single grain of maize. They have gone to an extent of attaching the properties of the Board. They even want to close their accounts and put some people behind bars. I do not know the mistakes that were made but I think that the EACC should be seized of this matter and investigate thoroughly ... view
  • 5 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, Sir, I am passionate about this matter because like I told you, I come from an area where we do farming and we know nothing other than farming. That is our livelihood. Every year, we are told that the NCPB is not opening because its The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 5 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: properties are attached, it has no money and its accounts are closed. The Board does not have money to buy maize from farmers. view
  • 5 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: I will leave the rest of the investigations to the EACC to establish the real owners of the other companies. We cannot allow maneuvers, threats and some names of some individuals to kill this report. If this report “dies” in this House, and I urge hon. Members of this House not to allow it, it will die with us as the Committee and as Kenyans because we will stand to defend the NCPB. I urge my friends to support this Motion so that we can adopt it and allow the other arms of the Government to look seriously into the ... view
  • 5 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, Sir, with those few remarks, I support this Motion. view
  • 22 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, Sir, I am also very grateful that I have got this opportunity to speak on this matter. Under Standing Order No.86, we are allowed to investigate on any matter under the sun. The question of whether we are professionals in these fields should not arise. view
  • 22 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: I believe that the people who elected us saw something in us which made them do so. When we were selecting Members to particular Select Committees, the Whips, the Leader of Majority Party and the Leader of Minority Party based their selection on the qualifications of those Members. So, most of the Members of the Committees investigating the Westgate matter have relevant qualifications. So, it is not correct when a Member claims that maybe we do not qualify to discuss those matters. view
  • 22 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: I would also like to comment on the matter that hon. Shebesh has raised. Sometimes we have political obligations and parliamentary obligations. We need to discuss matters which are in this House when we are in this House. When we leave this Chamber and go to our constituencies, we need to address the political obligations. Like most of the Members have said, almost all the matters in this country are now within the Committees. If you look at all the Committees, you will find that they are addressing each and every case including marriages, land and any matter within this ... view
