  • 7 Aug 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. First of all, I want to make a correction. As you know, when a lie is repeated many times, it may appear as the truth. I have heard the Leader of the Majority Party say that Hon. Kaluma is a grandson of Akuku Danger. I want to make that right. Akuku Danger comes from Kanyamwa Kologi Ward in Ndhiwa Constituency. Up to his death, he was residing in a place called in Aora Chuodho which is in Kwabwai. You may not know that my mother comes from Kanyamwa. I know all the descendants of ... view

  • 7 Aug 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Kaluma has been masquerading as Akuku Danger’s descendant, which he is not. I want that correction to be on record. It has been mentioned many times. I know Hon. Kaluma is not related to Akuku Danger because he is not related to me. If he was related to Akuku Danger, he would be related to me. Finally, something that I would request the Chairperson to be alive to is that we have been deteriorating as a House in terms of discipline. Look at, for example, the dressing code. Previously, it was not an issue. Members of Parliament knew how ... view

  • 7 Aug 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I want to support the Committee on its finding that Hon. Ochieng’ Mbeo is fit to be the first Chair of the Kenya Fish Marketing Authority. This is one of the appointments that are very timely. I congratulate the President for picking the right person for this position. Hon. Ochieng’ Mbeo, for those who may not know, was born in Mfangano Island. That is an island in Lake Victoria. It is at a time I do not know, but I know he was born in Mfangano Island before his father moved to ... view

  • 7 Aug 2019 in National Assembly: is someone I would say was born where fishing was taking place. Above all, when he became an adult, he showed great interest in fishing. He is one of the directors of one of the largest fish firms in Lake Victoria. It is one of the firms or companies that are doing fish farming in Lake Victoria. That is the fish farming that is now commonly now known as “cage farming”. Therefore, in terms of passion or interest, Ochieng’ Mbeo fits the bill. He has interest in fishing. He has demonstrated that interest. More importantly, Hon. Ochieng’ Mbeo’s intellectual capacity ... view

  • 7 Aug 2019 in National Assembly: Europe where we used to export our fish. Even locally, we have more than enough market. In fact, the market or demand in Kenya surpasses the fish we produce, but we still find our fish not getting good market yet fish is being imported from China and many other places. If you look critically, that fish does not match the fish that we produce in this country. So, it is high time we concentrated on this. Finally, I am working on legislation on this. There is a new initiative in which Hon. Ochieng’ Mbeo is involved. It is cage farming. ... view
