  • 21 Jun 2023 in National Assembly: Chairman, I want the Chair of the Committee to guide me on this because the suggestion we are making here is to delete the expression of USD0.5 and substitute with USD0.55 per kilogramme. However, looking at the tariffs that are given on page 368 of the Bill, for example, and let me pick one, Tariff No.4102.21.0…. view

  • 21 Jun 2023 in National Assembly: Kindly, Hon. Didmus Barasa, can you allow the Chair to listen to me because I want him to clarify this point? Hon. Temporary Chairman, I am looking at Tariff 4102.21.00 on page 361, which is at USD0.52 per kilogramme. Why are you bringing USD0.55 per kilogramme? I do not see where you are getting the USD0.55. All along in the tariffs, I see USD0.52. Could you explain exactly what you are trying to do? That is the bit that I do not understand. view

So, the difference was between USD 0.52/kg compared to USD 0.55/kg. But it is falling to USD 0.32/kg, which is better. view

  • 21 Jun 2023 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Speaker. First, let me start by thanking and praising the Budget and Appropriations Committee for a job well done. I want to praise the Chairman of this Committee. I think he is coming out as one of the best Chairpersons of the Budget and Appropriations Committee so far. He is detailed in his approach and in moving of the Motion. He is eloquent and I want to support that. This tradition of Supplementary Budget II started around 2016. It never used to be there. It is because of the poor planning on the part of the ... view
  • 21 Jun 2023 in National Assembly: How can you tell people that the money that can run the economy of Kenya was carried away in sacks? Those sacks can fill the City of Nairobi. Even if we want to lie to Kenyans, we need to be decent in our lies. We can say that some people have stolen from our coffers. That is a fact. There was theft under President Uhuru and President Kibaki regimes. It is the degree that differs. Under the Ruto regime, we have started seeing theft. I have not measured the Road from James Gichuru Road to Ole-Sereni, but it cannot be ... view
