19 Sep 2013 in National Assembly:
Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Before I go to the Bill, let me say that hon. Tanui is a good friend of mine. He is such a nice legislator that even if he says something that does not please you, at times you feel like you need to forgive him but he should have known that imputing improper motive on another hon. Member is out of order. I do not incite members of the public. I cannot remember when I have ever incited members of the public. He knows very well that what I opposed then was his attempt ...

19 Sep 2013 in National Assembly:
between Kenya and other countries has been lacking. So, an attempt to bring this matter into clarity is laudable. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, the proposal to give powers to the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA) to assist other regulatory bodies in ensuring compliance is something we need to support seriously. If there is anything that needs to be guarded jealously is the retirement benefits of Kenyans. When you retire, you would want to continue living in dignity and respect. individual tax that Kenyans pay in this country. We need to think more seriously about other indirect taxes. The next Kshs9,576 per month attracts 15 per cent. The next Kshs9,576 per month attracts 20 per cent. The next same amount of money attracts 25 per cent. This is not acceptable. This country is overtaxing its citizens. We need to tell Government to think ...

18 Sep 2013 in National Assembly:
Kenyans need to appreciate those heroes and heroines who suffered and fought very hard for some of the freedom that we enjoy today. I would love that when this petition is transacted, we also consider other heroes like Charles Rubia who even lost his voice as a result of torture, frustration and humiliation in the hands of dictators of the past regime.

17 Sep 2013 in National Assembly:
Hon. Speaker, first of all, let me welcome back all my colleagues to this sitting; I believe that they have had enough time with their constituents. From the list the Leader of the Majority Party read out, I heard him mention that he is tabling before this House a Post-Elections Economic and Fiscal update. According to Section 27 of the Public Finance Management Act, the National Treasury shall arrange to be published a Post-Election Economic and Fiscal update not later than four months after the polling day of any general election. Mr. Speaker, could we get a clarification from the ...
