  • 7 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Unfortunately, Mr. Speaker, Sir, I was also out of the country. I would request you to give me time to check where the Minister of State for Immigration and Registration of Persons is. In the meantime, if I cannot get him now, I would request that the Question be deferred to Tuesday, next week. I undertake to prevail upon him. view
  • 7 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I have listened carefully to my colleagues, who are bashing the Government side. An example was given here by my friend Dr. Khalwale on the chiefs. Dr. Khalwale knows very well that even if I had the answer ready with me, unless the Question is put on the Order Paper, there is nothing I can do. The Question was deferred for two weeks and it is yet to be put in the Order Paper in order for the Government to reply to it. On the issue raised by my friend Mr. Ekwee Ethuro, you are aware that ... view
  • 7 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: I have never been a busy bee or a busy body at any time. Mr. Speaker, Sir, we are trying our level best as the Government to give good answers. I was just concerned about an example of my docket that was given. I want to assure hon. Members that on our side, because of security matters which are very sensitive, I normally sit here for purposes of answering my colleagues. view
  • 7 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: On the issue of the chief, once the Clerk has put the Question on the Order Paper, I will deal with it the way it should be dealt with. Thank you. view

(a) I am aware that cattle rustlers have severally attacked Chemoe, Yatia, Kamwitio, Chepkesin and Kapturo all within Batabwa Division of Baringo North District in the course of this month in which four people have so far lost their lives. • 29 May 2012 in National Assembly: About 3200 people have been displaced during the violent raids and are currently camping at Batabwa and Silibo. The DSC, Baringo North and East Pokot are jointly making efforts to recover the stolen livestock. The following measures have been put in place to restore peace and security in the area. A platoon of the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) personnel has been deployed at Chemoe village, Tuluk Sub-location with reliable means of transport and firm instructions to contain the situation and restore normalcy. Mr. Speaker, Sir, another platoon of police officers is being deployed at Kapturo and Cheptisin area with reliable ... view
  • 29 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, because of the insecurity experienced in the area, I have directed the Commissioner to send a team to fast-track the vetting of police reservists in order for us to appoint them soon. We will do that in two to three weeks. We are also planning a visit. Actually, I have spoken to Mr. Cheptumo, as the Member of Parliament for the areas, about our visit to the area. We will also be visiting the area with hon. Members from the Pokot side to create normalcy. I know it has been a bad situation; people have been displaced ... view
  • 29 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, my team on the ground said that if need be they should be provided with rations. I think that is taken care of. view
  • 29 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, that is ongoing. We have prevailed upon the elders from the Baringo side and the Pokot side, and they are doing exactly that. view
  • 29 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, indeed, that is a genuine question. There are suspects who were arrested. Some were released because of lack of evidence. However, the investigation is still ongoing, and we will continue arresting those who are practicing this pre-Cambrian way of life. It is true that people have been displaced. We will continue with the investigations and arrests are still going on. We will arrest those who are causing mayhem. view
