Before I refer this petition to the relevant Standing Committee, I note that the subject matter to which the Petition relates falls under the mandate of more than one committee, that is, the Standing Committee on Labour and Social Welfare which has the mandate to consider matters relating to culture and heritage and the Standing Committee on Education, in so far as the current Petition was triggered by the decision of the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) to have the Dholuo language taught in Suba primary schools.
