  • 14 Aug 2007 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this chance August 14, 2007 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 3159 to support this Vote. Appreciation does not cause any constipation. I would like to add my voice to my colleagues who have commended the Ministry for a wonderful job done. I would be failing if I do not express my personal gratitude and that of the people of Khwisero for whatever the Ministry has done in that area. Majority of the markets and secondary schools have now been connected with electricity. We are truly grateful for this. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, ... view

  • 14 Aug 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I just want to say that as the Ministry embarks on the mission of providing adequate energy for the Vision 2030, it is time to invest in new technology. That will mean investing in young, intelligent, brilliant and talented people who will be able to come up with new ideas on how we can put in new technology to meet the requirements by the year 2030. Do they have a flat rate or they keep varying that figure? I am asking that because I have a situation where we are getting different quotations for different schools when they are within 600 metres radius from the transformer! view

It is true and I am grateful that the Government took immediate action and, August 7, 2007 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 2991 indeed, the measures taken are in place. However, he said that there was a shoot-out between the police and the gangsters and two people are said to be dead. I want to believe that some cartridges were collected. Did the police establish the possibility that these people could have died of gunshots or did they simply die of the injuries ... view

  • 1 Aug 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to appreciate the work the Minister is doing. However, as I speak, half of all the projects in Western Province have come to a standstill because the contractors have not received the materials that they need to complete these projects. August 1, 2007 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 2923 What is the Minister doing to address this issue? view
  • 1 Aug 2007 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I rise to seek your guidance. There is a practice in the House, which to me, amounts to ambush in the sense that very often, we come to this House in the morning without knowing what kind of business we are going to discuss the following day. Order Papers are printed in the night and put in our pigeon holes. The consequence is that we come to this House ill-prepared and we, therefore, do not--- view
