  • 2 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Member for Rarieda, I am not going to debate this because it is not part of my mandate to do so. However, I am agonising. The President is an embodiment of the Executive. On the other hand, the Chief Justice is the embodiment of judicial authority. Somebody swears before another because that person has the judicial authority. That is why you swear before commissioners for oath, magistrates or a High Court Judge. That is the constitutional thinking in swearing before people. The President has no judicial authority. He only has Executive authority. That is where we are. view
