• 8 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: especially in Meru County. This is occurring in our homes. Victims do not have a place they can run to. It is still happening in our schools, streets, places of work and even our worship centres. There is great need to construct such centres in every sub-county, not only in our counties. • 8 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: I support this Motion by our sister Jessica by saying that, in Meru, we have so many demonstrations. It is not because they need roads, water or construction of schools, but because fathers and men have raped so many young girls. We need such a centre. I am very fortunate today that, as the Woman Representative of Meru County, I am in the process of constructing one. I appeal to every Woman Representative of this Parliament to have such centres so that we help our girls and women down in our villages. Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. view
• 25 Jul 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Installation of CCTV cameras in all public secondary schools is good. I support this Motion. Installation should not only be done in secondary schools but in all public and private institutions of learning. Recently, we had a case in Tharaka Nithi County where a female teacher and a pupil of Muragara Primary School in Tharaka Nithi County were injured following an attack last Friday. They are nursing injuries. If we had CCTV cameras in that school, establishing the suspect would have been much easier. I also support this Motion because it prevents such incidents. ... view
• 25 Jul 2018 in National Assembly: loses from our institutions. Those cameras help a lot when installed in our places. We have so many cases of students cheating in exams. If we have CCTV cameras in our schools, we shall monitor our students doing exams. This will prevent cheating. The CCTV cameras will also prevent trespassing, vandalism and even the use of drugs. We have a lot of cases in schools where young form ones are bullied. So, if we have these CCTV cameras, we shall lessen the cases of bullying among our students. Indeed, when he was talking I remembered of a man who was healed by Jesus Christ and the teachers of the law and the Pharisees started complaining. The man was blind and he wanted to see. He ignored the complaints from the teachers and the Pharisees and said the importance of his seeing was more than any other thing. • 3 May 2018 in National Assembly: Many people are suffering. We want to see what can be done to improve our agriculture, have our youth employed and our roads in good condition. Our people must see the measures taken by us leaders to enhance security and hence promote trade in our counties. The Speech made me differentiate between hearing and seeing. • 18 Apr 2018 in National Assembly: I come from a county with a population of over 1.7 million. We have nine constituencies, 45 wards and only two civil registration centres. It has been a very difficult time for my people in Meru because they travel over 250 kilometers paying a fare of over Kshs.1,000 to reach the registration centres and register for birth certificates. • 18 Apr 2018 in National Assembly: It is high time the Government set up centers and if it finds this difficult then in wards, bishops like me can be empowered to do civil registration. If religious leaders are empowered they can do civil registration comfortably and this will help us secure food for our country. In Meru County the reproductive age is between ages 14 to 49, everyone has a child and needs to go to the registration centres. This means they waste a lot of time there in very long queues.
