However, it is important for you and other Senators to take cognisance of Standing Order No.81 which is very clear and mandatory in its terms. It states that, speeches should not be read by Senators while they are contributing. Let me read for you Standing Order No.81(1). It says:- The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor, Senate. view

(2) The Speaker may allow a Senator to read a speech in particular cases where the Speaker is satisfied that this is necessary for precision in statement of facts.” So, you cannot say that you want to proceed under Standing Order No.81 then you continue to read the speech, Sen.
