• 16 Jul 2024 in Senate: to try and engage, so that we balance the views of various communities in the amendments that we will put in place. I would also like to talk about having a will. We have seen and witnessed so many disputes or people disputing a will that was written by a deceased person, resulting into many long legal battles. I would like Sen. • 11 Jun 2024 in Senate: Thank you very much, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I rise to support this Bill on allocation of monies to counties. As I support this Bill, we urge our counties, that the Senate having worked very hard to increase the allocation from the proposed Kshs391 to Kshs400 billion mark, expect our counties to be diligent in the utilisation of these resources. My own county of Uasin Gishu will have additional funds of over Kshs300 million. I expect that the County Government of Uasin Gishu will ensure that the VTCs that are on the verge of being closed, with only one out of ... view

• 11 Jun 2024 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, it is incumbent upon this House to make sure that our counties utilise resources well and also take action on governors who, after allocating all these resources, dare not appear before Senate Standing Committees whenever they are required or requested to do so. Anybody who has agreed to receive public resources must be ready to accept to account for those resources on an equal measure as required by the law. From the onset, I support the proposals for amendments to this Bill, however, with a number of concerns. This Bill sets out to correct or remedy our current situation as a country. A number of constituencies and wards in our country have been without representation for more than a year because the electoral body has been absent. The issue of delimitation of boundaries is a very emotive issue that accompanies the sharing of resources. It is an issue that determines how a regional area will be administered.
