19 Apr 2007 in National Assembly:
Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I understand that thieves do not announce that they are coming. This is an isolated case and I have taken the necessary action. I am very firm that I will follow up the matter personally with the CID and make sure that anything like this does not recur in any of the factories within my Ministry.

19 Apr 2007 in National Assembly:
Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, first I want to appreciate the fact that the hon. Member, in his honesty, thinks that I am a lawyer, of which I am not. Nonetheless, I have already answered the question he has asked. Indeed, there was impropriety among the officers of Nzoia Sugar Company and we have taken the necessary action to ensure that those officers are not only removed from the premises of the company, but they are properly investigated. Those who will be found to be responsible for the loss, will be taken to a court of law.

19 Apr 2007 in National Assembly:
Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, just like any other businessmen, horticulture farmers are experiencing opportunities in Ethiopia. I wanted to make it clear to the House and to the nation at large that there is no threat whatsoever from any serious relocation by farmers to any other country because Kenya still offers the best opportunities for horticulture farming. 19 Apr 2007 in National Assembly:
Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, in fact, what my colleague is referring to is the intention of the policy; that, we allow the private sector to regulate itself. However, in so regulating itself, other organisations such as the Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Services (KEPHIS) and the Horticultural Crops Development Authority (HCDA) must be able to provide the leadership in terms of regulations so that those who break the law can have the full force of the law, ensuring that nothing goes against the grain of production and marketing of the same produce.
