I was a Member of the Committee on Energy in the previous Parliament and we did quite a lot of work in regards to trying to deal with the cost of electricity. One of the biggest problems that we had was that KP borrowed money in US dollars at very high interest rates. We need to do something to reduce or refinance those loans in order to tackle that issue. We need to have more off takers. Secondly, we need to encourage more mini grids in the country. I have heard many people complaining that Transmara Sugar Company releases bagasse into the river.
