  • 7 Jul 2021 in Senate: Their land was taken away in Solai. Therefore, the issue of that land has to be resolved in a way the way that the three groups had agreed. It is an issue of compensation. I, therefore, beseech my good friend to relook at that issue. Sen. M. Kajwang’ talked about the issue of implementation. Yes, the citizens are coming to this House to seek support, but what happens when we give out recommendations that disenfranchise one group and benefit the other one, yet the historical injustices that caused that problem are not looked at? I urge my friend to follow ... view
  • 7 Jul 2021 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. I will be brief and to the point. Whenever we complain about the cost of living, Kenyans out there throw their daggers at us. Even though they are few--- view
  • 7 Jul 2021 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. I will be brief and I will finish. I encourage everyone, including myself, to wear their masks. I will try, but it becomes difficult to speak. view
  • 7 Jul 2021 in Senate: May I point out that I am happy that I have received both doses of the vaccine. In the United States of America (USA) now, you can move around without a mask if you have been fully vaccinated. This is Science and it is being improved. Back to my point; we lament and raise concerns about the cost of living. Two, ten or two people out there throw their daggers right back at us. They say that if we, Members of Parliament (MPs) who are tasked to pass laws, raise and lower taxes complain, then who are they left with ... view

When the Executive proposes certain legislation, please ask yourselves the following questions: Why you are doing that and how will it impact people on the ground? In Narok County, for example, this is the time when we enjoy the great migration. However, now tourists will not visit our national parks and we will not be able to generate revenue. Kenya has reported the highest number of COVID-19 infections in the East African region. Therefore, many people will continue to be affected. ... view
  • 3 Jun 2021 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I rise to support the elevation of Nakuru town or municipality as a city. One of the things that excites me about this elevation into becoming a city is the fact that it is in Rift Valley. Secondly, when you look at own source revenue collection, Nakuru county is number three in terms of own source revenue. Nakuru town collects more money than Eldoret, Mombasa and Kisumu who are the two counties that have cities. The amount of money collected by Kiambu, the next county, but I hope that soon--- view

  • 3 Jun 2021 in Senate: There are a few things that I want to point out here. Although I support the elevation of Nakuru Municipality to a city, it comes with great expectations. We expect more things to come out of that county where we hope that with more taxation expected to be charged to the people, there will be more public participation so that people will know what they are paying for. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I have gone through the Report and one of the things that excites me is that fact that this Senate is the only House of Parliament that elevates municipalities ... view
