  • 19 Mar 2025 in Senate: Thank you Mr. Speaker, Sir. I just needed a clarification from the Cabinet Secretary on the process of land acquisition. I heard him stating that they were having a dispute with the identified landowners. Could you walk us through the process of compulsory acquisition? Based on your response, it appears that in the list of the people to who the land was acquired, the Government did not submit to an expression of interest to where the land was, as well as the valuation of that land. The law spells out the process which is identification, valuation and expression of interest. ... view
  • 19 Mar 2025 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I rise to contribute to two Statements. One Statement which is really baffling is the Statement raised by the distinguished Senator from Wajir County Two weeks ago, the distinguished Senator of Marsabit County raised the same Statement on this Kala-azar. Kala-azar is a very dangerous disease. We only used to hear about Kala-azar from India, and it is associated with poverty. That means there are serious underlying issues that are affecting our people in the north, like the issue of poverty. If the Ministry of Health does not take serious concern, it will spread rapidly, ... view

  • 18 Mar 2025 in Senate: The issue of vaccines is very dear to some of us. It is a big lesson that all of us must learn, that whenever you plan for anything, you must be able to get the buy-in of the professionals. There was a lot of hullabaloo, including even myself, saying clearly that my cows will not be vaccinated. You will excuse my speech today because I have a small disability in my mouth, but I will attempt to maybe put my message across. The issue of vaccines is something which is very important. What we learned during the entire exercise, although ... view
  • 18 Mar 2025 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, it is imperative that Dr. Allan Azegele, who is the Director of Veterinary Services (DVS), appears before the Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries to provide full information on the FMD vaccines. I remember one day I was having a conversation with the new Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development and he said something which was very important to me. He said that if these vaccines are to be imported, there has to be a demonstration that from the country which they are being imported, they are being used to vaccinate their livestock. Later on, ... view
  • 18 Mar 2025 in Senate: Committee on Health to go into KEVEVAPI facilities and see the entire process. This is so because there is a lot which is being discussed worldwide about the issue of vaccines. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, when you hear Bill Gates saying that these cows need to be vaccinated, so that they stop farting, it worries us. It is imperative for us to be educated and our county governments must take their role seriously. Earlier on when looking at the budget of the Ministry of Health, we realised that there is a presidential directive that has directed the Ministry of Health ... view
  • 18 Mar 2025 in Senate: Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, we can be convinced to accept that our cows be vaccinated. I thank you. view
