  • 26 Oct 2022 in National Assembly: Samburu East, KANU): Thank you. Hon. Temporary Speaker for giving me this chance. First of all, I want to thank the people of Samburu East for giving me a second chance to serve them in the 13th Parliament. Concerning the Motion we are discussing on village elders, these are very important people because they help in administration of small units. I know in some counties, the county governments give some allowances to the village elders. I think the problem is the village elders working under Chiefs or Assistant Chiefs. This is because those under the village The electronic version of ... view
  • 26 Oct 2022 in National Assembly: administration are well taken care of in some counties. These people need to be given some allowance to motivate them to do the work they do. When they render this service and are not paid, they are not motivated. I think the national Government has more finances than county governments. Sometimes, it is embarrassing when these people work but nobody takes care of them. Even when they have meetings they are not given something small for their lunches. I think the national Government should try to give them some allowances. Nowadays, they are trying because Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs are ... view
  • 1 Dec 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me a chance to say something about the President’s Speech. It was a very long speech which cut across all sectors in our country. The President made himself clear on our territorial boundaries. I was very happy when he said, “Not an inch more or less.” That was an encouraging and inspiring speech. The President’s Speech elaborated so much on infrastructure and the road network. He mentioned that there are many roads that he started during his term, which is very good. The only issue is that it could be that these ... view
  • 1 Dec 2021 in National Assembly: are benefitting a lot. Maybe those who plan these developments have to consider all parts of Kenya in these very good developments which were achieved during the term of our President. The President mentioned almost all sectors. I appreciate that although we only have to consider all parts... Thank you for the chance, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. view
  • 23 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I want to say something about the Laikipia issue, which I think is a very serious one. As leaders from Samburu, we have an interest there because our people live there. We cannot go away from Laikipia. Laikipia belongs to all of us. We cannot keep quiet when our people are suffering and being killed as if we are lesser Kenyans. The Government of Kenya is listening to one side. If the Samburus have a problem there, then the people who are wrong should be taken to court. Why are cattle being killed? That is ... view
  • 23 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: Samburu East, KANU): Hon. Deputy Speaker, it is bad to play with the lives of people because of politics. Hon. Korere should know that. • 23 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: Samburu East, KANU): Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I think we all know what transpired there and yet we have kept quiet for a very long time. I think if the Kenyan Government wants to solve that problem, then it should listen to all of us. If you see what is happening now, the leaders from Laikipia want to get Samburus out of Laikipia, which is not possible. I think that should be known. The problem is that people have lost their lives. We have seen in social media people being killed by Government officers. I think it is wrong ... view
  • 21 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me this opportunity to add my voice to these Petitions. Kenyans are really suffering. Prices of fuel in other parts of the country are very high. I hear Members talking about Kshs131 but in some parts of Kenya, the fuel price is Kshs140. The direction you have given will really help the people because the country is almost coming to a standstill. It is high time that we save the people because they are crying. Look at the boda boda and matatu people. Those who want to travel are not able to do so ... view
  • 18 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. This is an important question. It concerns all of us. I think the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is confused. If a Member constructs a school and does not even ask them to give anything, they only refuse to give that certificate. The CS does not even know some parts of this country. They should remove whatever they have written to stop the registration of schools because there are a lot of problems back at the constituencies that we represent. There are even no more schools. I think we need to follow up. They ... view
  • 10 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I want to add my voice to this issue. Drought is severe in some parts of this country. In Samburu County, livestock are not there. They have migrated to far places. Even the conflicts we have in Laikipia and some parts of Isiolo are because of drought. The Government should move with speed because the situation is dire. If no steps are taken, people will die, leave alone the livestock that have already died. Even students are not able to go to school in the affected The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report ... view
