  • 25 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: I am happy when I see that this Bill is not hostile to this practice which is important to us. I am happy about the silence on extended family which sometimes people call wife inheritance. Many communities like my community practise extended marriage. You can never call extended marriage wife inheritance because marriage involves families and that extension of marriage where someone serves the purpose of his brother who is deceased is very important because we do not have orphaned children suffering. We also do not have widows suffering. So, I am happy about this but most important is the ... view
  • 25 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: So, I want to support this Motion especially on the aspect of compensation. We have many false promises; our people promising and not fulfilling those promises. I like The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 25 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: the idea of appropriate compensation for false promises. People need to be responsible morally. People also need to care for each other. So, I like the aspect of compensation which I would like to support. view
  • 25 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I want to take this opportunity to faithfully support the principles of this Bill. view
  • 28 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I rise to support the amendment requiring us to debate the Report of the Committee. The Reports alludes to the history of our people. We should be proud of our history because it forms the basis of our existence. We should be proud of our history because on its basis, we are able to chart the future. From the history of our people, we are able to understand why we are where we are. The importance of doing this is that it will set us free from the yokes of denial. The challenges that we have ... view
  • 28 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I thank you for that guidance. Indeed, my friend just got me at a time when I wanted to express my endurance to our Constitution. Our Constitution underlines the importance of universal living values, which have been alluded to in this Report, and which we really need to embrace and include in our legislative and governance processes. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, we are living in an environment of cultural diversity but it is embarrassing sometimes the way we view cultural diversity. We think there is an opportunity for us to divide ourselves when actually it is ... view
  • 27 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. I was, indeed, anxious to speak to this Motion, having been personally involved in initiating this whole process of legislating for heroes in Kenya. I support the Motion. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 27 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: I would like to appreciate and call upon all hon. Members to appreciate the fact that we are a very lucky nation that is founded on multi-cultural diversity, which we need to embrace. Listening to what hon. Sakaja has said and given his age, I am very encouraged because our cultural diversity is based on our identity and the aspirations of the different communities of this country. It is, therefore, very important that in identifying our heroes, we consider the aspirations of our people. Every community in this country has aspirations that guarantee them continuity. We have individuals who have ... view
  • 27 Nov 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Before I conclude, I would like to talk about dependants. The dependants as identified by this Bill, are viewed as unable people. It is important, while implementing the principles of this Bill, to find ways of enabling the dependants to be able to sustain themselves and continue to contribute to the nation and champion the spirit of our heroes. We also need to leverage on the abilities of our heroes as models and champions of our national course. Whether they are from the villages or not, it will be important for us, while implementing ... view
  • 10 Oct 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I would like to thank the Committee that has brought up this Bill and especially the issue of the Tribunal. From time immemorial, our people with the experience from the colonial times do not have a very good place in their hearts for tax. So, we have all the time tended to avoid tax. However, the journey we have travelled as Kenyans, we need to address some of these issues and demystify the concept of punitive taxing systems. So, I want to support this especially with the understanding that tax is important. Tax is ... view
