  • 24 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker. I do not want to delve into that because we cannot go discussing what is on the wall. We have seen a lot of lopsidedness and skewed appointments. Let us not argue about it. Let us deal with it. Let us solve this problem. It is an eyesore which we must address. Running away from it makes the situation only worse. view
  • 24 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, we would like the TSC to get down to business and I am very happy that the appointment of these two ladies is going to add value to the work of the TSC. I would like to request that they address the issue of teachers so that teachers can be settled and then we will be guaranteed of the future of this country because those children that are back and forth from school need to be prepared to provide the future that we are looking for. view

  • 10 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. This is an important Motion for us especially at this time when we are trying to develop our rural Kenya and provide opportunities for the urban population as well. However, the issue of electrification is an enormous challenge. I would like to thank the hon. Member who has brought this Motion. This is because we will now be able to address a few issues. I am particularly concerned about the opportunities that we lose as Kenyans. Kenya Power, statistics show, can only provide electrification of 15 per cent. In fact, the actual one is ... view
  • 9 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. This Motion is very important to us. We know what corruption has done to this country. Our people have been impoverished because of corruption. People or Kenyans have lost opportunities because of wanton corruption that has been institutionalized in some places. We should at the advent of the new Constitution do everything we can to save young Kenyans who would like to exploit the opportunities that have been created by the new Constitution. view
  • 9 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: The new Constitution emphasizes on the need for transparency and accountability. I think that is what this Motion is about. This Motion is about processes. We need to put in place mechanisms which will eradicate corruption scandals like Goldenberg. view
  • 9 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, through the budgeting process, we have seen that we still have some Kenyans who are very keen to steal from the taxpayer. There were very many issues which were presented here that cannot pass the test of time. For example, the building of an office at Kshs700 million when the real cost is supposed to be Kshs230 million. What is that? That is planned theft and it is going on at this time when we have a new Constitution which is alive to the separation of powers, transparency and accountability. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I ... view

  • 4 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, while contributing to this Motion, perhaps, we need to emphasize the need for us to do thorough housekeeping. I would like to support this Motion while emphasizing the need for us to revisit our processes of negotiating and entering agreements. We have very many agreements that we have entered as a country. But what process do we take and whom do we involve and what skills do we have? Do we have the right negotiators? This is because the challenge we have here is that we even have some agreements that we do not know ... view
