  • 11 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister has mentioned various satellite laboratories. I know that the Government may not be able to provide all the services that are required without help from the private sector. I think the Government policy is to commercialise services and farming activities, including livestock farming. Are there any incentives to induce the private sector to participate in livestock keeping in semi-arid areas? view
  • 11 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Some swamps have been drained and commercial farms started by investors. An example is the Yala Swamp. What justification was given for commercializing the Yala Swamp including draining and carrying out irrigation? Was there any justification done by National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and approval given? view
  • 10 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: asked the Minister of State for Special Programmes:- (a) what is the amount of maize currently held at the National Strategic Grain Reserve (SGR) stores and silos; and, (b) how much maize the Ministry will purchase for the Strategic Grain Reserve and how much money has been set aside for that purpose in this year’s cropping season. view
  • 10 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I wish to thank the Assistant Minister for the answer. The amount of Kshs1 billion looks so small and I want to ask him to tell this House how much was spent in the last financial year to buy maize. What is the monthly consumption of maize from the SGR? view
  • 10 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I would like to ask the Assistant Minister whether he is aware that farmers who delivered maize to the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) in the last season have not been paid to date. What is he doing about them? view
  • 21 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister says that the farmers should deliver maize and they will pay, yet the Ministry has not paid for last year’s crop. Could he confirm to this House how much money they have set aside for purchase of maize this year? view
  • 15 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me an opportunity to ask the Minister a question. My question regards the awarding of contracts. Sometime ago, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, in particular the Dam Construction Unit, used to undertake constructions and it used to be much cheaper to use the Ministry of Water and Irrigation Dam Construction Unit. This is like they did in Chebara Dam which supplies water to Eldoret and it is a big dam. Why do you not use the Ministry, to reduce costs in construction of dams of this size? view
  • 15 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Yes, Mr. Speaker, Sir. view
  • 15 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I got the Question yesterday and the answer was distributed before 8.00 p.m. view
  • 15 Jul 2010 in National Assembly: No, Mr. Speaker, Sir, I only have mine. view
