  • 20 Jul 2023 in Senate: Those parents and caregivers must be taken care of. I hope that this Bill will put emphasis on caregivers because they are very special Kenyans and people who must be supported. view
  • 20 Jul 2023 in Senate: We know that there is money that is given to a disabled child. We need to be careful and ensure that the support is reaching the child. Apart from the support of the child, we also need separate support for the caregiver. Otherwise, the caregivers or the parents will use the Kshs2000 that belongs to the child to take care of themselves and the other children and forget the disabled children. We need to have systems that will ensure people with disabilities are taken care of from when they are born. view
  • 20 Jul 2023 in Senate: That way, we will reduce the negative impact on the family as far as costs of health are concerned and everything. Free health and education must be assured. In this Bill, I believe that we are talking about free education for those who are under education. We discussed in the other Bill that learners with disabilities need free education from early childhood to university. These are people who must be taken care of by the Government and not the parents. view
  • 20 Jul 2023 in Senate: With those remarks, I support the Bill and congratulate Sen. Crystal Asige for giving us a wonderful write-up on this Bill. I thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. view
  • 22 Jun 2023 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me the opportunity to support this wonderful Bill from my very own student; the Mung Beans Bill, 2022. This Bill came to us in the last Senate. I am happy that we interrogated it at that time. We looked at a number of issues that have been ably addressed by Sen. Wambua. view

  • 22 Jun 2023 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, may I take this opportunity to congratulate the Senator for such a well worded Bill. This Bill will make a big difference in the agricultural sector of this country view
  • 22 Jun 2023 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, my first degree is in agriculture. I know that there are crops that have been identified by Acts of Parliament. This Bill will shape mung beans to the same level as coffee or tea, which are crops that require processing and clear identification from others. One thing Sen. Wambua convinced me in the last Senate is that we can pick one bean and run with it. I am truly convinced because it is very important for us, as a country or region, to ask ourselves what exactly do we have as crops for exports. I like ... view

  • 22 Jun 2023 in Senate: I know the Bill has provided for use of the same beans in our school feeding programmes. However, the money maker is going to be export of these beans. This will be very important for us because before anybody exports any crop to us, we will also tell them what we have for exports. This will be good. Seed breeding is going to be prime. Hybrids will be grown all over. The standards of packaging will be very high, so that we can sell them anywhere, as I had mentioned earlier on. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, one other aspect of ... view
