24 Feb 2021 in Senate:
Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. I thank Sen. Omogeni for donating a few minutes to me. I really wanted to speak on this Bill that was extremely important to us, as a Committee. This Bill was very dear to the Committee, basically because early childhood education had been misplaced for a very long time. As we discussed as a Committee, we discovered that the child that should have been the favorite in the education system was being put to the sideline. Infrastructure was not meant for them, but for the older children. Even where they schooled with the older children, ...

24 Feb 2021 in Senate:
It is at that point that a child learns good manners, and they will never forget. It is at that level that a child learns that they must wash their hands before eating, and they will never forget. It is at that stage that we can in-build the values that we call the Kenyan values. For us to be able to do that, it is very important that we have the right infrastructure. Moreover, it is very important that the child feels appreciated because the ironical thing is that at home, the mother takes better care of the youngest child, ...

. We learn from one another, and as we continue to work for ourselves and to work together, we will make a difference in this country. Thank you very much Sen. Omogeni for giving me a show time of your time of submission, so that I could also add my voice and say that we will make a difference to our children with this Bill being assented to. Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for the time.

17 Feb 2021 in Senate:
Thank you very much, Madam Temporary Speaker, for giving me an opportunity. First of all, I would like to congratulate our sister, Sen. (Dr.) Zani, for improving the Co-operative Societies Bill in major ways. We really thank her for doing this because this is one Bill that needed to be aligned to the Constitution. I think that we have lost a number of years without using the right methods. I say this because we have received Petitions from Savings and Credit Cooperatives (SACCOs). If only we had improved on the law itself, we would not have been worrying about how ...

17 Feb 2021 in Senate:
First, I want to register on behalf of all of us, our pole to the Nyagah family, because this is a man who did a lot for this country. However, since we were in recess we did not have an opportunity to send our deep condolences. I know that it is passed, but if you write the history of the cooperative societies movement in Kenya, the name Joe Nyagah will always stand out very strongly because of the improvements that he put in the sector. With that in mind, I thank our sister because she has brought out those issues. ...

16 Feb 2021 in Senate:
Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir for giving me an opportunity to join colleagues in expressing my deepest sadness following the death of our colleague Sen. Haji. I want this House to know that I have known him for the longest time. I have known him since 1983 when I was a district soil conservation officer in Trans Nzoia. He was posted to come at the time when we had elections that created a lot of tension in Trans Nzoia. When he joined us in Trans Nzoia, he called a meeting of heads of departments, and being a district soil conversation ...

16 Feb 2021 in Senate:
mind. I went to Sen. Haji’s office, and he was the Provincial Commissioner (PC) then. He advised me from day one. One of the words that Sen. Murkomen has used is what he used directly to me. He told me: “You have come from the university; first things first. Respect for authority cannot be compromised in life. You are coming from a formal system that has a different order. If you are to lead women, respect for authority is something you must carry in your mind. Honesty is the other and listening is an art in leadership.” At the time ...

16 Feb 2021 in Senate:
Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to wind up on that. He said something that touched me and will remain with me forever. He asked: ‘Where are you?” I replied “I am at home.” He asked: “Can I come and see you at home?” I said: “No, I am coming to see you.” That was amazing. This is somebody who would go to any length. If you were in a problem or a situation that you needed him, he would even come to you. May the Lord rest his soul in eternal peace. I sympathize with the family. On behalf of ...
