  • 4 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the point I am making is that if the Prisons Department, without any coercion, writes a letter confirming that this officer is of exemplary performance, then it is incumbent upon the Government and the Ministry led by the Vice-President and Minister for Home Affairs to immediately, even without waiting for the discourse in court, reinstate this officer who has discharged his duties with distinction. I am sure that the Minister in charge of Public Service would advise the Vice- President and Minister for Home Affairs in that manner. view
  • 4 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, there is a section of this matter which is not view
  • 4 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, you saw the Vice-President and Minister for Home Affairs table the Report on the investigations which I have gone through. It shows shameful houses that one cannot even keep animals in as the house that the prison warders were occupying. Could he confirm that the prison warders are no longer occupying those shameful mud houses? This is because that was the reason for the strike in the first place. view
  • 4 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Whereas the beauty of Mrs. Shebesh cannot be the answer, and that ought to be a subject outside this House, is the Vice-President in order not to be categorical and to confirm to this House that 30 per cent of prison warders are still living in deplorable conditions, so that then this House can know what to do? Is he in order to avoid that confirmation and hide under beauty? view
  • 4 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, could the Vice-President and Minister for Home Affairs then confirm that 30 per cent are still living in dilapidated mud houses and, therefore, that he merely victimized the sacked officers over a problem the department has been unable to overcome in four years? view
  • 3 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. You heard the Assistant Minister saying that it happened outside the place of work. But it is also obvious that that person used the firearm provided by the Ministry. Is it in order for him to refuse to get sufficient details within the Government and report to this House? Is it in order for him to wash off his hands and this is his employee? view
  • 3 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I rise in support of the Motion. I want to thank all colleagues who have supported, especially our male colleagues. Starting with the Mover, they are sons of women, husbands of women, brothers of women and fathers of daughters. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I think that any father will have known when their daughter started menstruating, because money will be required to do that shopping. But, unfortunately, there are many households that cannot afford this basic necessity. In order for the country to be able to offer free compulsory education, then the basics have ... view
  • 2 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister mentioned a lady who is supposed to have been in the deceased’s car. Have the police established the identity of the lady, which they could do by tracing the places the deceased may have been before he met his death? view
  • 2 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs:- (a) how many Kenyans are working in the United Arab Emirates, (b) whether he is aware that many Kenyans in Dubai area being denied work permits since some time in 2010; and, (c) what he is doing to address the situation. view
  • 2 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am glad the Assistant Minister admits that the number of Kenyans that he has given is an estimate because the information I have is that there are close to 100,000 Kenyans in the UAE. These Kenyans are supporting our economy by their remittances. It is in the public domain that there was a diplomatic row some time last year or the end of 2009 when a Prince was mishandled in Mombasa, Kenya, and since then, Kenyans have been having problems with visas. There was even a requirement at one time that no Kenyans without a university ... view
